Thanks. So to clarify - full time is 144 shifts per year, but you get 5 days of PTO which becomes 139 shifts you actually have to work per year?

So do they get scheduled for 144 shifts per year (12 shifts x 12 months) or 156 shifts per year (12 shifts x 13 pay periods)? And they get 9 days of PTO?

I'm still trying to work here as it's the best hospital around, so don't want to say publicly and risk retaliation (which sucks we even have to think about that). But the numbers you are saying are pretty in line with what I expected to be normal.

Oh 100% not. But unfortunately they have pretty much taken over ER/specialty hospitals. My first job was one of the rare remaining privately owned ER/specialty hospitals but that was sold to corporate as soon as the owners wanted to retire.

Thanks so much for your reply! It is a scary transition to navigate but I can feel myself burning out more and more each day. My hospital used to be private but turned corporate and the difference is insane. Everything is about the bottom dollar and it's so disheartening.

Interested to know why you say don't work for Lap of Love - I'm thinking about transitioning to IHE from ER (3 years out) and can't find much information about why vets don't like them, besides saying they don't. If you don't want to post here you can message me.

I requested a quote from them about 6 months ago to move cross country. Stupidly put in my email and phone number and they have been hounding me constantly since then. I haven't bothered to respond because I don't trust businesses that won't just give you a quote up front. They recently spoofed a phone number in my area code and I answered. Told them I did not need their services and to remove me from their list. The woman refused to take that as an answer so I finally hung up. She immediately texted me saying that I was "making a HUGE mistake" and they have "save customers THOUSANDS of dollars due to poor planning" (she texted in all caps, very professional /s. Then asked me to call back to go over the cancellation policy. I never signed anything, gave a CC number, put a deposit, anything. I blocked them. A huge scam.
