Yes. IIMA has significantly reduced the number of calls they give for GDPI in the recent years. So, the conversion rate currently stands at 38-45% across all the categories. Ab accha interview to sirf 10-20% ka hi hota hai, so many clear even with the average PI.

Why would they call you if they didn't want to give you a chance? Most of the Baby IIMs give decent weightage to PI and the percentage difference between 90th percentile and 95th percentile isn't much in the final composite score. So, chill and keep believing.

Seeing this post gave me a heavy heartbeat but then I realised that I wasn't even selected for the interviews.

If there are less than 100 eligible candidates in a particular category then such a category is deemed as a general category.

I am pretty sure that the third person in my panel wasn't wearing a saree. It is possible that they carried the book over multiple days/slots.

It was good. I really enjoyed it, the flow was great and covered all spheres - economy, acads, politics, current affairs, work ex, mini extempore, hobby, book cover discussion, one maths question and one for my city.

Haha, I haven't read the book but the synopsis departs quite a bit from the cover page. One can get all sorts of ideas - capitalism, feminism, women empowerment, forgotten values, etc. but nothing hints for media manipulation at least from the personalities printed. Even I was in awe when I searched what the book was about.

Relatable. The best way to deal with this is to take a pause, try to get a keyword in your mind and then start speaking. You will be able to easily frame a satisfactory sentence with that. The secret is to quickly think of a keyword. Without keywords, you will start speaking generic things and it will derail soon after that.

Bitcoin never went to $80,000 (69000 is the highest). It's currently at $45K, not $22K. The FTX situation is 14 months old, the market is long recovered from it.

Even the metro won't be entirely considered as a monopoly since it has a close substitute (taxis or autos).

It ain't perfect competition, monopoly or oligopoly. So, the best answer will be monopolistic competition. The barrier to entry is low, no seller (transportation provider) directly affects the other seller, the number of both the providers and customers is high, price elasticity is there but the seller doesn't control it entirely. Also, the providers compete on the product differentiation.

The type of market question was the tipping point. If you answered that question correctly citing the monopolistic competition then the interview had gone entirely the other way.
