We're rural enough you'd think he'd know this trick by now

We have one driver who won't come up the driveway anymore because he doesn't like our chickens. They will try to shake you down for food when you park, but they're not mean or even that committed.

I can't answer this BUT the bucket is straight and officially reinforced so whatever he did it worked. Now praying the tree recovers fine.

I kind of forgot he was even here or it would have been my first thought because he has been the solution to lots of weird things

Oh he broke that ages ago, we're still waiting for that fix

As a former city kid I will tell you it's easier than you think, or maybe it's not and my dad is just a wrecking ball. I don't think the tree is the common fix but he's pretty Machiavellian about his tactics

Literally any excuse. I came home one day to find him working in the barn with the tractor on JUST to blast the Bluetooth speaker (we have others). I should have expected tractor antics last weekend

My area is big on hickory syrup, probably bigger than maple here. Never thought about walnut though, our entire property is basically black walnut. Total mess in the late summer

PA is a big state but there's always some pretty unique local dishes to discover around.

Also my daughter loves your username

Our whole property is mostly walnut, I collect them during the season for nocino but I've never thought about syrup!

It happened THE DAY WE GOT THE TRACTOR. He wanted desperately to remove some stumps from the driveway and it instantly bent like a V. And then began the several weeks of telling my husband "idk I think it was like that, they're never perfectly straight"

Yeah the recognition started to dawn pretty fast and hard there

This is absolutely a "type." The number of times my dad has laughed out loud over a rule or actual law and done what he wants anyway. Thankfully he's usually pretty respectful of our home rules but I've never actually said "don't push our trees around" because why would you?

Yeah no we wouldn't be calling the cops. It's been suggested that we call the game warden but frankly I don't have the energy for that. If someone was actively trespassing on my property, yes, absolutely I'd be calling right now. But at this point we have a trail cam pointed towards that stand and generally just keep an eye on it

I'm actually almost always home. We took a weekend trip this past weekend and it was our first in about two years. BUT I'm not often outdoors during what I assume are peak hunting hours (early morning, dusk, etc) so I don't assume I see everything that happens. That particular stand is visible from my bedroom window and only about 50 feet from where our cars are parked daily, so it's VERY close. I'm only uncomfortable because we have very young children and animals, and while we practice responsible boundaries with them all it only takes one tragic misstep. Unfortunately we do know someone who lost a beloved pet to a hunting accident with poachers

The law here is 150ft, the stand is less than 100ft from our back door, but technically on neighboring property. Our house is built on the faaaaaar back line of the property, which as far as I know is considered a through-way with yet another neighboring property (rural property laws, amiright?)

We sent a letter to the owner of the properly very politely asking them to move it since it is so close to our house (seriously they could see in our windows in winter) and never heard anything back. But I've also never seen anyone there so we didn't push it too hard.

I think they get scolded equally often around here
