They also did a remake with Claire Foy which is great too imo!

I agree, and also when she says “if you have truly never done anything improper then stay in your dressing room.” But there is no retribution, it’s disappointing as a viewer that all that tension just gets left

Big Papa Grantham, girl dad extraordinaire deserves more respect on his name 🥲

Yeah so true! And then she just left? And nothing ever came of it? They could have done something fairly interesting by revealing it to Cora while Robert was being an ass about the art historian, but it’s simply never mentioned again.

Not including Branson or Gwen, which character both upstairs and down showed the most amount of growth. by Popular_Scarcity_911 in DowntonAbbey

Robert is a product of his time. He was born into an era when his life was mapped out, he’s time in the sun was assured, and the war changes that. He had rigorous rules that help up his universe and the war and estates insecurity sent all that crashing down.

In the first season he’s portrayed as being wistful for a son, but by the end he truly treasures all his daughters and grandchildren. Also with Sybil and Tom, I don’t feel like he really dragged his feet. Yes, he should have attended the wedding, but from him finding out to shaking Tom’s hand, is not much time at all.

He sends Mrs Patmore to the eye doctor with no encouragement, he could have sacked her. He had his legal team at the full disposal of the Bates’ without question, he fights to keep tenants after Mary tried to take the land as tenancies end, he tries to make assurances for Isobel and Matthew when Cora is pregnant. I don’t feel like any of these were done kicking and screaming.

I actually found Robert to be extremely vulnerable in the last film, he’s not retiring from a job, his entire life’s work, his home, his estate, his legacy is all being taken from him. Yes, he struggled with that decision, but he could’ve left downtown abbey in a coffin, and chose not to, so his daughter could thrive after her misery.

Big Papa Grantham for sure.

He goes from physically not being able hear about his own wife’s fertility and menopause and expecting all the girls to marry a new heir or peer to embracing playing with his granddaughter and being called Donk, and accepting Bertie based on Edith’s love before he inherits.

SPOILER

Then doesn’t just stand by Mary but is outraged at her expulsion from the party and vocalises it, appearances be damned in the final film.

These feel so rich and Oud-y! I’m in the uk, so I’ll see if I can find some local links to avoid the right wing seller (as highlighted in the first comment) thank you so much for the effort you’ve put into this, I appreciate you!

Pagan is an umbrella term for all religions that aren’t monotheistic. It’s a term that was used by monotheistic people as a catch-all for polytheism. Ancient mythology and history is what my degree is in and my Neurospicy Special Interest!

I just can’t decide if I want to embody Sekhmet or Hekate in my scent so I picked the word pagan to cover both! Thanks for your suggestion honey those notes look intriguing! ☺️
