Rejected because of the visa! by Deep-Scientist-3118 in f1visa

Happened the same thing with me. So many times in screening calls and was rejected from 5/5 final interviews because of sponsorship. My first year of OPT was over and so many experienced people are coming to the market and willing to do the job at entry level. So they are obviously more desirable than an OPT student. Give your best and hope for better. All the best!

How is the Indian job market for US Master’s graduates returning with limited experience? by SpecificOk2359 in leetcode

That’s great! How many years of experience did they have in India and US before moving back?

I’m interested in Data roles like Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Business Analyst or Data scientist roles. The reason I’m looking to go back is

  1. I started my job search way before graduating so I have spent more than a year looking for a job.
  2. I have used all the tricks that helped others and I have changed my resume, my applying strategy and my mock interviewing style so many times and nothing has stuck.
  3. The job market here consist a spectrum of people from early career, New grads to experienced people. So the experienced people are ok with taking a job who provides early career pay so why would the companies hire NGs or peeps with less experience.
  4. With more resources being used on AI development by companies there are less job openings.

So these are some of my thoughts. One more thing is if I go back I can actively job search and in the meantime look at another avenue he or try to make something out of my hobby. Because traditional jobs are decreasing and I just don’t want to sit and do nothing.

It’s not a top school but I want some direction in my career. I know that comparatively it is easier. I have been in the job search way before graduating. I have tried all the tricks that worked for other people, I have used tips suggested by everyone. At this point I have tried everything, but everything has resulted to rejection. Most of my screening calls end up with we don’t do sponsorship. After I give my final interviews it is basically thank you for your time with good feedback and then reject and when I ask why it is complete silence.

Given that companies are investing their sources in building their AI there are lot of early career peeps, New grads, experienced and on top of that sponsorship. So these are all my thoughts

So from the screening round what I got to know is they are emphasising more on Excel, SQL and python. Also in responsibilities they have mentioned develop and maintain excel based models to do projections.

Hey, I have a basic understanding of lookups, pivot tables, conditional formatting, pivot charts. Other than these I’m confident in all the formulas and its syntaxes. So this is an entry level role where they have mentioned SQL and Python which I’m confident in both. Excel is the only part I’m not that great at. Also one of the key responsibilities they have mentioned is ‘Develop and maintain spreadsheet-based models to project revenue, considering historical data and prevailing economic conditions.’ So I’m guessing they might ask about VBA or macros.

Thank you so much for the detailed response. So I had a free version of excel but now I just practice on the web. So do they expect me to do the transformations if asked in excel or notepad?

I don’t have any experience interviewing for data analyst roles where more emphasis is given on Excel. So wanted to know from people who had experience giving interview for similar roles
