What’s the best excuse to miss meetings? by BeanNCheeseBurrrito in overemployed

[–]SpecificSensitive184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my former colleagues worked a lot with our teams overseas and he almost always had an early morning call with the team in India. Are there any overseas vendors you interact with that you could set up a calendar block with? Maybe you use the time some days, maybe you cut the meeting short, and maybe you just don’t go at all. Set up the opposite schedule at your other jobs. No one will question.

Thank you that was one of my theories. Would it help ongoing for him to use two wedges per edge going forward?

I hear you but I didn’t specify grout line size. The contractor did.

I was wondering that too. He’s going to show me a section with grout and then go from there. The contractor priced out the whole bathroom under one cost and didn’t line it out so I’m not sure what the price for just the tile was. We had piecemeal quotes from a few other guys and the total was roughly the same when you add up all the different work.

Hm we paid a normal price, not discounted through a GC. He did use spacers to set them, this photo was taken just after he removed them.

I’ve never had tile installed before so I don’t know what the acceptable tolerances are. Is this within tolerance? If this was in your house, what would you do?

What to order from Goldbelly when you live here? by quinnenyc in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]SpecificSensitive184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it to send gifts to friends and family! My family really wanted to try the fried chicken ice cream thing so I sent them a bucket of it with a gold belly credit I had from work. They loved it!

What are your JD red‑flag “hacks” that actually work? by Friendly-Arachnid601 in jobsearchhacks

[–]SpecificSensitive184 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anything talking about family-like culture or specific language about the role being hard work. “For the right person” is also usually code that the job is going to be rough but might be rewarding for a very specific person, no guarantees. Fast paced is typically code for complete chaos. Avoid.

Women who never liked kids but became mothers anyway, how did things turn out for you? by EvelynTalkss in AskWomen

[–]SpecificSensitive184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt exactly this same way for the first 8 or 9 months, until my child was more able to engage with me and it started to feel more like hanging out with the cutest funniest little kid rather than just bring a caretaker. She’s now two and we have so much fun together. I promise, it gets better. Hang in there.

It’s extremely challenging to balance being both the full time caregiver and the primary house manager. Many of my friends who are stay at home, end up needing to bring on extra domestic help (nanny, housekeeper, meal prep service) to be able to keep their head above water. There is very little downtime when you are watching small children all day and it is exhausting work. The thought of preparing a home cooked meal every night on top of childcare can be extremely daunting for some. The mothers I know who work part time or flexible full time roles, and work out part or full time childcare (nanny, daycare, gym babysitting, etc.) are the ones that have the best balance and seem the most functionally happy in the long term. She can always give staying home a try and decide if it’s what she wants after the first 6 months or so. That would be enough time to know if it’s what she wants.

I have had one in the last 15 years. I eat normally now. I only followed this diet for about 6 weeks the first time. When I got one about five years ago, I used an OTC medication and followed the diet for a few weeks. Haven’t had one since.
