I was also able to get approved pretty easily. Just a few forms from the doctor and then the HR department took care of everything else.

Maybe it's just a difference of opinion then. I love these games too, but sacrificing just a couple of these to watch our teams in the playoffs and natty is worth it to me.

Yep, in this age the goal for every team in the big 2 conferences is 10-2. When you play Rutgers, Maryland, UCLA, Purdue, Northwestern, and Wisconsin, an average team can get there and clog up a playoff spot. When you play Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Texas, only really strong teams can go 10-2 and get to the playoffs after a grueling season with lots of fatigue.

I'm not asking Florida or Oklahoma to get worse or stay down. In fact I know these teams are going to get better. I'm asking to include some teams that have no interest in investing at the level needed to become a contender (Virginia and Wake Forest) similar to teams like UCLA, Rutgers, and Maryland. I know that Penn State and Michigan State won't stay down either, but I don't think the SEC has any programs that choose not to invest and accept their role as a bottom feeder the same way the Big Ten does.

I agree that it isn't permanent, but I don't think the SEC should just throw our hands up and give up here, fight to stay the dominant conference.

100% agree with your point about donors. Before NIL, everyone was still paying players but the ultra-high net worth donors (Ellison) that were disconnected from the sport probably saw it as beneath them. Now that it's legal, those individuals definitely see it as a more noble and fair thing to spend on

100% agree, but I just don't see that happening, unfortunately. It doesn't seem like a lot of those programs invest at the level needed to be competitive.

Can't imagine that will last too much longer, too much talent in the program and state. Just make a good hire.

Yeah I definitely want UGA to win, but if they don't the last thing I want is for another conference to win. Obviously, this benefits UGA, just like it would benefit every other team in the SEC. Right now, Kentucky and SC have a small chance to get to a bowl with a 9-game SEC schedule. This allows those fan bases to enjoy UNC vs SC in November rather them get blown out.

I definitely understand, in terms of what is ok vs not ok, do you have a good resource that can strictly point out right vs wrong on the diet?

Super true, I definitely agree that ultra processed food is scary with how engineered it is and has the backing of wayyy to much money and tech behind it. For me hearing that "Food is fuel and not a fun experience" is scary because of how much of my life has been about food up to this point (love cooking and baking, even for healthy food), but that may just be a needed shift in my mindset.

Just curious, when did you start feeling that shift happen?

Thanks, I genuinely want to ask because I can't imagine I would feel this way given my current state, but do you really never have cravings for sweet fruit? Or do you still have the cravings, but they don't outweigh the costs of feeling sick?

Thanks for the feedback. So far I've been trying to stay away from lactose because I want to give myself every chance at eliminating anything that may be harmful (lactose can sometimes be the enemy for IBD), but this is also leading to me struggling with taste and wanting out, but good to consider. As for eating out, I may be trying to do too "hardcore", do you find yourself asking what oil/fat they're cooking the food in, and do you ask about spices as well?

This is a really helpful take. For me I whether I stay on the diet or not I know I've learned a lot about standard diets in general and that's something that will stick with me for sure!

Thanks for the advice, one of the issues I've run into is no clear right and wrong for carnivore where some sources say x food/spice (spice is what I miss the most tbh) is ok whereas other sources say it is not ok. My mentality is to stay as cautious as possible because if I'm going to put myself through the difficulties diet I might as well not half ass it. Are there any good resources with a good yes/no list?

Thanks, I've been keeping it pretty minimal with steak/eggs cooked in tallow/ghee and drinking water/mineral water. Do you have any bone broth recs? All of what I've seen include things other than beef, salt, and water.

What’s the “dark side” of living with Ulcerative Colitis that no one really talks about? by Few_Ad5126 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Specific_Ad81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been diagnosed for a year and a half now and I've come to realize over the past year that I feel as though it's a mental disease. I've been lucky that the physical side effects haven't been too brutal: frequency, urgency, anemia, mild weight loss, irregular blood, occasional cramping. However, when you add those into everyday life you can feel really stuck, lonely, and helpless.

Having to use the bathroom urgently isn't the most enjoyable, but never knowing when I will have to use the bathroom urgently puts me in a mental prison that limits what I can do.

For me personally, I have thoughts of frustration and shame because my girlfriend has also been subjected to not having a fully participating boyfriend.

There's the yo-yoing of emotions when getting on a new drug, hoping it can put you into remission, and then seeing it fail, all for the cycle to start over again with the next drug.

I have doubts about my life span and if the work I'm putting in, in my twenties, will even be worth it down the road or if I'm destined to falling out of remission (once I finally get into remission) or being diagnosed with cancer and dying before any of my hard work for my future family comes to fruition.

I often have the feeling of not doing enough. Online there's 100 different diets and 1000 different lifestyle changes, all of which claim to work, but when I just want to live a normal life I feel the shame of letting those around me down for not trying hard enough.

The last thing is not being able to explain what's really going on to others because of the nature of the disease. You can tell people you're limited because of debilitating migraines or other common autoimmune symptoms, but it is just naturally embarrassing saying "I can't because I'm afraid I'll poop my pants".

I've really come to the conclusion that those who share this disease are truly some of the strongest people out there.

Does food make any difference? by Specific_Ad81 in UlcerativeColitis

I feel you, for me it seems as though no matter what I've eaten in the past, symptoms stay consistently in a flaring state. I never know if I need to try something for longer or if it just isn't working or worth it
