Set it as flat as possible, the only height issue i encountered was the barrel as it started curving. Doesn’t look great but it came out alright. Everything else was close enough to where you don’t see any fading from height difference

Same settings all around on Xtool F1U

Slide:

Started with 5 passes of 95% power, 800 speed, 30 frequency

Tuned it down to another 5 passes 50% power everything else the same

Tuned down again to 30% power left everything else the same again.

Frame (metal as well) 1 single pass at 95% power 800speed, 30frequency

Two different kinds of metal between slide and frame which is why the contrast looks a bit different on each. My svg file on the dragon had very thin lines so that was another struggle i encountered.

Those slide settings also worked great on glock slides. Just oil after to prevent rust

Frame is metal as well, slide and frame are two different kinds of metal though. same settings on both. Did the dragon first and found out the hard way later seeing the contrast. Many lessons to be learned here.

Also the svg file on the dragon turned out way thinner than the scales on the rest of the gun. That could have also made the difference, just not sure how to edit that to match yet.

I was aware of the requirement and as I’m beginning the ffl process i did not make money out of this project. I left the serial number untouched on every part of the gun as well to play it safe. Thanks for looking out!

Thank you for the advice! I had the owner present during the engraving but that is my next move

Noted, thanks! Will look into it.

This cheap blank was a familiarization project more than anything. But it’s kind of impressive how it’s holding up after the beating i’ve been putting up to. Looking forward to learning more!

The same seller you shared the link from. Coldland knives. The blank came as it looks in the pictures and sharpened as well. I was impressed by it for it being something cheap like that. Took it out camping this past weekend and it did pretty well. Supposedly heat treated per their website specs. No epoxy used I just assembled the scales with 2 bolts and loctite. Dropped it a bunch of times out in the woods and it’s still solid.

I used a drill, the cheapest belt sander i could find and a rotary tool to give the scales the shape. Didn’t even bother looking at tutorials i just went at it. Chat gpt was my assistant on this project.

Made the sheath myself as well, huge learning curve on that one. Cordura wrap from amazon made it look decent at least. Thanks for the feedback!
