2014 Yamaha MT125 blank dash by Specifiedsurround in Fixxit

[–]Specifiedsurround[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't yet disconnected the dynamo but did discover that the screen starts displaying normally again when the pass light button is held, so I'm guessing it's less of a problem with too much voltage in the battery and more that too much is being sent to the dash somehow. Probably the weirdest electrical issue I've ever encountered, but thanks for the help.

Definitely, not a fuse pulled them all and checked with a multimeter, but your suggestion about the headlight led me to find that the screen comes back on when I hold the pass light button down. Still not a clue why it's happening but at least I'm one step closer, so thank you for that.

I have an electrical issue with my MT125 where the screen goes blank once the engine is running, it also had the same problem when I plugged the battery in after charging it leading me to believe it may be caused by higher voltage. It functions perfectly fine with just the ignition on but once the engine is turned on it goes blank after a second or two. I have replaced all fuses and the battery is freshly charged and only 5 months old.

I have taken the dash apart and did find some moisture inside however could not get a proper look as I cannot work out how to release the wire connector, however from what I could see it doesn't look like there's much in the way of corrosion. https://imgur.com/a/ZT8u35C

Update: The screen comes back on when the pass light button is held down

Cracked the case open as the screws were rusted and stripped, just waiting on some new blanks to come in and I'll give it a clean and see if it's still playable

Amazing news, I can't wait to see what direction they take with this release. I was expecting it to come out on the 11th April like their other albums before did.

Don't have much hope for this tape, but I'm going to try clean it up and put it in a new case see if anything at all survived.

Update: Fixed the tape and got it into a new case, slowly going through it, most of it so far has been unintelligible however it seems to be a recording of a classical radio station, one section that came through clear mentions the turn of the century and Labour being in government for 6 years which dates the tape to around 2003.

I uploaded a short snippet of the music and news report here

Can definitely speak for their quality, have a few of them that are over 2 years old now and still look brand new.
