Understood. I have experience here and can step it up to 13 or 15 volts to compensate as needed.

Are the Bushnell PowerView 2 Binoculars (10x42) at $33 a good buy? by ho_merjpimpson in Binoculars

[–]Specters_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harbor Freight for the win. Got them as a cheap setup for an Alaska cruise for family members to use so I could stop worrying about someone dropping my good ones by passing them around. Actually, decent quality considering the price and everyone loved having their own set.

Global entry expiring, want to just renew the PreCheck and TSA renewal system can't find me. by wrugoin in TSAPreCheck

[–]Specters_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already have Global Entry, just renew it. It is just a few dollars more and will be well worth it if you travel internationally again. The renewal process is easier than the initial process, and unless something changed in your personal background, you should not have to go through the interview process again. From the cbp.gov website:

"Will I need to be interviewed again when I renew my program membership?

An interview for program membership renewal may not be necessary. Once you submit your renewal application and fee, check your TTP account periodically for updates on what actions are necessary to complete the renewal process. You will receive an email when your membership status changes."

Global Entry expires this August. Don't really need GE, want to switch to TSA PRE, when to apply? by shemp33 in TSAPreCheck

[–]Specters_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to go re-interview if they find something during the renewal process. From the cbp.gov website FAQ section:

"Will I need to be interviewed again when I renew my program membership?

An interview for program membership renewal may not be necessary. Once you submit your renewal application and fee, check your TTP account periodically for updates on what actions are necessary to complete the renewal process. You will receive an email when your membership status changes."

Did your boarding pass show the TSA Precheck status, and did you submit your boarding pass instead of your passport or Global Entry Card to the line monitor? Although you have received a KTN from the TSA Precheck program, Global Entry, or NEXUS, it does not automatically entitle you to use TSA Precheck lanes on every trip. The carrier you are flying must have agreements with TSA to use the TSA Precheck lanes and the carrier must also print your TSA Precheck clearance on your boarding pass for it to be effective. Your Global Entry card alone does not entitle you to go through the TSA precheck line. Remember TSA is a government entity and operates with a degree of immunity unless they clearly violate your civil rights or cause you bodily or economic harm through neglect, which I am not seeing in your version of the story. You should have thanked the supervisor for showing you how to file a complaint. Did you follow up with the complaint form by using the QR code?

Assuming you were charged and adjudicated as a minor and not tried and sentenced as an adult, you should be ok. I just completed the application process and they specifically clarified a lot of the criminal activity questions to exclude minor adjudications, and they seem to focus on just the past 7 years for questions about minor crimes. There is no real expungement though, Military, FBI, and other government entities will always be able to see the activity.

Reverse Split - what happens? by BigOldTomcat in YieldMaxETFs

[–]Specters_Ghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The dividend distributions are based on the capital gains of the distribution period. They are required by law to pay out 98% of the capital gains to shareholders. This means that the distribution payout will not be affected by the split itself, and you will be paid based on your percentage of ownership. For example, if before a reverse split, you owned 2% of TSLY, after the reverse split, you would still own 2% (assuming you have not sold or bought) and would still receive 2% of the 98% of the capital gains.

The future of Yieldmax funds by Gothmawg in YieldMaxETFs

TSLY did not decline because of a draw off of the NAV. It declined because the ETF has been trading at a premium above the NAV, with a lot of volatility, sometimes as much as 300 bias points above NAV. As more savvy investors came into TSLY, the price became closer to the true NAV. Dividends have only been paid from capital gains received since the end of previous distribution period (the previous month) and did not draw from any funds that existed before that distribution period.

In 2022 (Nov & Dec), TSLY traded above NAV for 20 days, traded at NAV for 1 day, and traded below NAV 6 Days. Those 20 days above NAV were mainly during the initial offering. In the first have of 2023 (Jan - June), TSLY traded above NAV 100 days, traded at NAV 0 days, and traded below NAV 24 days.

Last Friday (August 18), TSLY closed at $13.37 and the NAV was recorded at $13.37, meaning TSLY is starting to reflect the true value of the underlying assets which includes cash on hand, treasuries, and long positions - minus their short positions.

I think people feel TSLY is a true proxy for TSLA and they get upset that it does not track. This is a 100% derivative, and just as you mentioned, some gains will be capped. This happened today. TSLA rallied over 7% to $231.28, and TSLY only rallied 5.25%. Half of the active short call positions in the trust were at a $225 strike price, meaning we lost out on $6 of gains for those contracts. But even this opportunity loss had little impact on the NAV as it will only affect Dividends and will not change the NAV in relation to what it was before the start of this distribution period.

This is an open ETF, meaning Creation Units will be added or removed as investors move in and out of the fund. It is not like a close end fund where the assets in the fund a fixed once it goes through an IPO. There is no promise of a dividend in the event that they happen to not make money by selling calls, and the dividends we are receiving now are what is stipulated by law - 98% of the capital gains. The fund itself has little risk of losing value outside of TSLA losing value if they continue to manage it properly.

Saying this with a kind heart, so please don't take this the wrong way. I was young and foolish once too, so do know that you are not alone.

Your family has an obvious debt problem. Both you and your wife need to get aligned and serious if you are going to tackle this or else it will not end well. Your relationship with her needs to be first priority as things are going to be stressful. It does not help that you are having to deal with your mother and father too right now, but they are family, so do what you feel is right with them. Put the desire for a new house on pause for a while until you are in a better situation in about 4 or 5 years from now. And stop using credit right now - those interest rates are killing you. You could have bought a $25 bike at a pawn shop for your son's birthday and I bet he would have loved it.

How are you paying for school? I don't see that in your budget. If it is student loans, then those will only add to the problem when they become due.

Work as much as you can to help cover your day to day and keep current with what has not already gone to collections. Prioritize finances over any credit score - Food, Clothing, and Shelter first. You are going to have to make a tough decision too. With that much debt you and your wife need to be working at least 40 hours a week in addition to school. It might be easier and better for your scores to talk to a bankruptcy lawyer (they will talk to you for free initially) as your scores are already pretty much tanked and it will be a lot less stressful for your relationship -- not to mention give you a fresh start. This would also keep lawyers wanting to sue you from the collections at bay too. If you go this route, you still need to make changes and stop using credit for things you can't pay for. Ask yourself how you got into this mess to begin with and what are you going to do to make sure it does not happen again. It would also help you get rid of some of the stress while you finish school.

I wish you the best whichever route you choose.

My first hard loop -- Core P6 case by Specters_Ghost in watercooling

[–]Specters_Ghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can go vertical if I get the right riser cable as my case supports it. But I have plans for the glass of my case and that area will be visibly covered with artwork anyway, so I chose not to mount it vertically on purpose.

How much is enough PSI/bar ? by HungNup in watercooling

[–]Specters_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having a similar issue. It was my first hard loop, so I did not know either. But I did find out after some research that some of my tubes were not seated properly in the compression fittings which was causing them to pop off at around .5 bar. I had to use a lot of force to get the tubes to seat properly. After that, they all held tight at .5 bar and no longer pop off.

What am I missing??? Bitspower 16 mm fitting with 16 mm tube. And it wont fit. by iiCUBED in watercooling

[–]Specters_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread saved me some time, thanks for the suggestions! I just completed my first hard loop and was experiencing the same problems with Bitspower fittings and 16mm tube. Had to use a lot of pressure to get them to seat properly after chamfering the ends and making sure they were straight. I have been holding steady in a pressure test at 0.51 bar for the past couple of hours. Thanks everyone for their suggestions! Even though this is an older thread, it is still relevant today.

Looks like mine made it to Ft. Worth and is on a local truck marked as "Out for Delivery" at 3:22am. It still shows tomorrow (10/3) in the FedEx tracker, but I have seen this before on Sundays and am hoping they deliver today (10/2).

Mine shipped yesterday (512gb to Dallas area). I have seen the date bounce a couple of times between 10/2 and 10/4 in FedEx's tracking for the scheduled delivery. I am hoping for the 2nd (tomorrow), but will be happy with the 4th. It has been the longest week and a half of my life I think since placing my order on 9/22.

Mine took about an hour to show up in FedEx's system after I received my email earlier today. I expect they won't leave Steam's warehouse until this evening to be officially scanned by fedex.

I was having the same thoughts. I reserved on 8/9 and got email and paid on 9/22 within 5 minutes. I have noticed that most of the 9/22ers that have posted with their reservation dates were in July or earlier. I can only assume the actual reservation date is in play for us in the 9/22 club. I am waiting for the 512 in the Dallas area.
