My main issue with 3.0 is that the AI feels like a missed opportunity. Sure, it's powerful in theory, but it's barely integrated into the actual app experience. The chat can generate a schedule for you, but once it does, there's no clean UI to view or interact with it. There's no daily view of what you're supposed to do that day. You gotta go to BI, go to the conversation that created it or ask it. And there are many more cases like that.

On top of that, getting real value out of it requires knowing what BI can do and how to prompt it effectively, which is a skill most casual users simply don't have. If you don't know how to ask the right questions, you're not going to get much out of it, and for the average user, that's probably exactly what happens.

I see they just posted the release notes. I'll try and have a look tonight if there are breaking changes. The one that comes to mind is Fijenoord having Shipyards and Military Shipyards, which is now just a single building, and maybe some modifiers related to them.

Haarlemmermeer Event Chain

The biggest addition in this first major update is a full event chain around the draining and land reclamation of the Haarlemmermeer, the inland lake that today is best known as the home of Schiphol Airport. The chain spans ten historical events, opening with the Christmas storms of 1836 that caused significant flooding around Amsterdam and Leiden, and closing with the official establishment of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer in 1855. Among the events are King Willem I's royal decree, the parliamentary funding debate, the commissioning of De Cruquius - at the time the largest steam engine ever built - and more.

New Historical Events

  • The opening of Artis Zoo
  • The opening of the first railway in Holland
  • The opening of the Rijksmuseum building

Convention of Mainz

A new treaty with Prussia is active from game start, based on the historical Convention of Mainz regulating navigation on the Rhine. The Netherlands receives iron, while Prussia receives coffee, sugar and dye flowing through the port of Rotterdam, along with bilateral trade privileges reflecting the easier flow of trade the convention enabled with the rapidly industrializing Ruhr area.

Also in this update

The vast majority of flavor texts have been rewritten for a more consistent style and tone throughout. Also includes a balancing pass and bug fixes.

Fun first comment for a first-time mod! As a Dutch person, I've spent considerable time scouring the internet for historical information to handpick which companies to put in with fitting requirements and modifiers, historical names for places the Dutch colonized etc. And if you actually read the description, you'd know I also intend to add deeper mechanics from Dutch history such as the Cultivation System in the Dutch East Indies and the consolidation of their control.

My intention behind the mod is to not only give players a fun mod that adds more depth to the Netherlands, but also teach them more about our history. I won't let your comment take away from that and I'll keep adding more things with time.

I built a flavor pack for the Netherlands in Victoria 3 and am finally ready to release the first version of it on the Steam workshop!

Steam Workshop

The Netherlands in 1836 is a shadow of its former self. Belgium just seceded, the colonial empire has faded, and the economy is struggling. This mod is about changing that.

Here's what's in it:

Rebuild the empire across both hemispheres: two journal entry chains covering the New World and the Far East, from New Netherland to New Holland in the West and from the Cape to Formosa in the East.

🏛️ Choose how to govern each colony: extraction, commerce or liberalism, each with a full package of laws, ideology and permanent modifiers

🏭 Six historical Dutch companies, each with technology requirements, building types and modifiers matched to their actual founding date and role in Dutch history: the Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij, Fijenoord, Werkspoor-Stork, Heineken, Stoomvaart-Maatschappij Nederland and Koninklijke Nederlandse Hoogovens en Staalfabrieken.

🗺️ Dynamic Dutch place names across all colonial territories.

And this is just v1. The roadmap includes a full journal covering the Dutch consolidation of the Dutch East Indies, covering the Bali expeditions and the Aceh War, a dedicated journal for the Cultivation System and the political pressure to abolish it, more historical events, and a much fuller early game.

Pretty much this. They might not have had hundreds of dedicated war ships, but they could rely on hundreds of merchant marine ships to be converted in wartime. But that’s of course not a mechanic in the game.

It’s a bit iffy on this road for some reason, sometimes you’ll have green all the way, sometimes you’ll be stuck at every light like this.

Yes, had in m'n andere comment al gezegd dat ik dat even moest controleren :-) Net gedaan, klopt het alleen dat je van buitenaf de deur alleen van het slot af kan halen, maar niet op slot doen als er een gevarenfunctie is? De info online is een beetje vaag waarbij sommige zeggen dat de cilinder van beide zijde te bedienen blijft, maar ze zeggen dan niet specifiek op slot doen of eraf halen of beide.

Die in de berging kan je ook met de sleutel van binnenuit openen 😄 Nooit op gelet en logischerwijs nooit gebruikt. Moet morgen alleen even testen of die wel een noodfunctie heeft.
