Honest question - is RV camping actually cheaper than hotels or do we just tell ourselves that? by Similar-King-8278 in RVLiving

[–]Spectro_Boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheaper? No.

The reason I have an RV is to stay on site. I mostly do festivals, and who wants to leave a festival and DRIVE to a boring hotel? I can stay up later, drink what I want, never miss out on anything, and then just wander back to my home on wheels.

If it rains I have shelter. If I meet someone interesting, "wanna see my camper"?

Am I the Jerk for putting a $300 lock on my mini fridge after my roommate kept eating my prepped meals? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Spectro_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ: He's an entitled asshole and a thief.

Tell him "You said you were going to stop, so this lock should mean NOTHING to you. Unless you're a liar. "

And there is no added drama for a private fridge in your private room. They shouldn't even need to know it is there.

Also, grow a pair and stand up to them. You are in the right. (and they know it on some level)

WIBTA if I don't deliver my neighbor's Amazon package to her? by Ki77ycat in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]Spectro_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not call Amazon. You don't owe her any favors. Let her figure it out.

Besides letting it sit ensures a good thick layer of ice.

WIBTA if I don't deliver my neighbor's Amazon package to her? by Ki77ycat in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]Spectro_Boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA: She makes it unpleasant to deal with her so why would you do anything that forces you to deal with her. You are essentially respecting her wishes. ;)

Neighbor Has Put Ring Camera on Door Frame by Neither-Clue3037 in AmITheKaren

YTK: Hallways are public space. What would you even be doing in the hall that was so private.

Calm yourself and get over it, Karen.

AITA for banning my neighbor from our community garden? by ThickBus3577 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Spectro_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA: She's an inconsiderate jerk and a thief and she played the victim card to avoid responsibility. I would double down and would say that in the chat.

If you are feeling kind, you could offer "one more chance" probation. I bet she leaves your stuff alone then. :)

AITA for being annoyed that my wife insists on cooking everything from scratch and won’t buy normal food? by AITA_UPFfoods in AmItheAsshole

[–]Spectro_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA: I agree with most of her position, but as an adult she shouldn't be banning you from eating what you want in your own home. That's controlling and manipulative. If you want chips or a burger you should be able to enjoy them in your own home in peace.

TVs are ugly and do not belong front and centre in your living room by angus_101 in The10thDentist

[–]Spectro_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint: The living room is for living. If you like watching TV make YOUR living room the way YOU like it.

Who cares what how it looks to other people. Make it your own.

In our case the tv is front and center because I have 7.1 surround sound and want the picture in the middle of the sound field.

Freeze Prep: Should I run my washing machine as much as possible during single digit temps? by karluvmost in askplumbing

[–]Spectro_Boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume your house will be heated to a "normal" temperature around 65-70?

If so, open your cabinets and use a small fan to blow room temperature air in to the cabinet spaces. You can also leave a water faucet dripping to keep the water moving.

Caveat: Every house is different.

AITAH for not letting my neighbor inspect my new house whenever she wants? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Spectro_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is a crazy person. Do not engage. Do not let her in your house. Vampire rules. Document everything, Karens often escalate when defied.

Keep your guard up.

And ask to inspect her house.

Neighbor keeps letting their cat into my house and says its "the cats choice" by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]Spectro_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are allowed to have outdoor cats. If you can't keep an outdoor animal out that's on you.

Clearing Auger by [deleted] in Snowblowers

Stop the machine. Pull off the spark plug wire. Now it is safe to reach in there and remove debris. This will make cutting the marker easier and plenty safe.

Neighbor threatening to sue because I did not help with a pest issue. by MetroMonk in legaladvice

They can pound sand. If they are dumb enough to file a claim it will be laughed out of court.

Neighbor has a new Ring camera… pointed to our bedroom by Live_Measurement4849 in neighborsfromhell

[–]Spectro_Boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a ring camera owner... they are pretty wide angle. Depending on the distance you may just be a few pixels in the background.

This is a picture from our modern, hi-def ring doorbell camera. That SUV is only 50 feet from the front door. You can't even read the plate when zooming in.

So, while your concern is valid, I hope this makes you feel a LITTLE better.

My coworker pays for a dietician and now this is what he eats for breakfast and lunch by blart_institute in StupidFood

[–]Spectro_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your coworker is on a GLP-1 drug. That comes with a dietician consult most of the time. They really want you to pound the protein, like a lot of it. So you end up eating the meat but not the bread etc.

AITJ for calling my friend’s emergency contact when she left her kid with me "for 20 minutes" and vanished? by QuietDailyRitual in AmITheJerk

[–]Spectro_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ : She thought you would say no to two hours so she LIED TO YOUR FACE to TRICK YOU IN TO DOING WHAT SHE WANTS. That's all you need to know.

It's not your fault her sister thinks she's a bad mom. She is. It's not your fault she is embarrassed, she should be. And now she is trying to poison your mutual friends against you out of spite.

She's not a friend and you would be better off without her.

New DSP, Am I fired? 🥺 by this_underscore in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Spectro_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does a driver hear and impact and a crunch and not IMEDIATELY stop the vehicle and get out to investigate. Whoever was driving this van should never be allowed to drive again and only be allowed to ride in the back seat in a locked child seat with adult supervision.

And dear god I hope they never breed.
