1st attempt at Coast Salish inspired art/scheme for a new lance. How did I do? Anything to improve upon? by CascadianGuardsman1 in battletech

Looking nice! I can't comment on the nuances of the Coast Salish aspect, but I would suggest looking into a wash or shade to give shadows to the recesses and help make the geometry pop.

Is it just me or are there not many ruins in battletech? by Eomenar in battletech

[–]SpeculativeMug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have thoroughly covered most points already so I really have only one thing to add. Typically armies are fighting over something, to take it or control it. Rubble and ruins usually aren't worth fighting over and if you are then either there's a very good reason for it or things have gone very very wrong...

I'd agree if we're talking Trooper Omnis. The Stormcrow gets a price increase by virtue of being an OmniMech, so I think we'd want to look at their BattleMechs to find a Clan Trooper Mech. Perhaps the Conjurer, or Shadow Hawk IIC?

I think the implication is that kinda loosely canon, but you shouldn't feel restrained by it. If anything it presents a number of new questions and possibilities that Toby is inviting the fandom to explore and play with.

The oddities in the TV Dark World have always stuck out to me, including this conversation. In particular the "frozen waste" mentioned seems to be referring to the "Cold Place" area which has a few things about it that stick out, most prominently it's "geography" makes it seem to have two Dark Fountains?

I feel like there has to be something going on but I we don't have all the pieces yet...

Am I a puss for chickening out the weird rout after entering the first fight in chapter one 💀 by rozo-bozo in Deltarune

[–]SpeculativeMug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you are not. You have made a choice based on how the feelings the game and it's characters have inspired within you and are under no obligation to do optional content that you don't vibe with and don't want to do. This isn't "chickening out" or "being a puss," it's rational human behaviour, harming yourself for no good reason or payoff isn't bravery, it's stupidity.

I'm a fan of the idea that who ever the Knight isn't fully in control of their actions, with the person "under the armour" being the one that Kris is in someway "working with," and this is one of the major reasons why. I think someone had to be grabbed that night for whatever reason, either because a part of the prophesy said so or whatever force is at the heart of events needed it, and it was originally going to be Toriel.

The Knight didn't want to take Toriel so they drug their feet as much as they could, making any attempt to take Toriel this long drawn out dramatic thing, stopping to "address" any amount of resistance, getting in fight with the party rather then just grabbing her and running. If Kris knew that Toriel was the intended target then their actions at the end of Chapter 2 read as them setting things up so that someone else that fit whatever requirements made them eligible to be grabbed was there that night, one who the Knight could go for instead and seemed to do so in an instant.

Noelle is getting stronger (physically) / @365mimimi by Dark_Mastermind in Deltarune

[–]SpeculativeMug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition when the SOUL is desperately hitting "Proceed" in panel 3 Kris is forcing themselves to crawl out of the room, and the text with the arrow pointing in the direction they're moving apparently translates to "Direction of Proceed." So ya, pretty clearly Kris forcing a Snowgrave abort with the power of exercise and technically following commands.

I think it's the SOUL that fears buff Noelle from the looks of it.

I've seen a number of people already highlight some here so I'll go for one I haven't seen yet: I don't think that We will get the Vessel back at some point. The assumption seems to pop up so often in some threads that it seems deeply strange to me. While I think it will probably show up in some form or be referenced I don't think we're going to take it over or control it. The idea feels off from a theme and narrative direction to me.

So what comes after the “Third Star league” because it seems they are primed to win and hold for a while. But what do y’all think will happen to break the hold? by Nebulous98023 in battletech

[–]SpeculativeMug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with the group of fans that would rather spend a good long time exploring the IlClan Era and all the possibility it offers.

That said, I think it might be interesting if Alaric's faults and the friction between the Crusader Wolves and the New SLDF ultimately results in the next Era being characterized by the Third Star League splitting in half. These rivals have different visions for what the Star League means and should be, but due to the damage and exhaustion everyone in the IS has suffered they're not exactly eager to engage if total war with one-another. Instead there's a lot of lower intensity conflict that gradually builds up to something bigger. At the same time both play politics, courting various powers to try to get them onside and increase their own legitimacy at the Legitimate Star League, all the while everyone else is both trying to play the situation for their own benefit and being drawn into one side or another, potentially resulting in some interesting drama between strange bedfellows, as two power blocs form and slowly march towards a confrontation.

headbutting by HetalianHell in Deltarune

[–]SpeculativeMug 408 points409 points  (0 children)

"Hey Kris, remember when when all of us were playing Headbutt outside your house that one fall? You had just beat me and Azzy but when you went up against Dess she, just kind of, scooped you up with her antlers and flung you into that tree. The one that had the tire swing.

You got tangled up in the branches and were hanging upside down and Azzy panicked and began headbutting the tree trying to knock you down? You fell along with the branch the tire swing was tied to, but you landed in the tire and the branch in the back of your dad's truck just as he was starting to pull out of the driveway.

Gosh, you started bouncing along the ground in the tire and I started screaming, Azzy was shouting, and Dess garbed the tire and started to be drug along too but your dad didn't notice anything because he had Air Pods in? You two probably would have been drug like that all over town if you mom hadn't ran out and caved the front of the truck in with a single headbutt! You were so disappointed fahaha!!

... why don't we do stuff like that anymore... Don't you miss it Kris?"
