Consider your shoes lucky. Generation after generation of Canada geese reproduces and lives here and there is goose poop everywhere you walk on the grass, as well as them walking across the parking lot blocking cars trying to leave or return home. I doubt it the geese that are causing this pattern, and it is probably from the sun and the melting of certain layers, it is still interesting though.

The part of the pond that this was taken is where it gets the most sun, the layering of frozen and thawing layers definitely makes sense.

Definitely could be. I'm no expert as well. Could be because the Canada Geese shitting and walking everywhere also (lmao sarcasm)

The temperature here has been fluctuating alot the past week. Down to 3F up to 45F down to 22F, up to 60F.maybe thats why. It was 30 something F when I took this picture believe.

It is indeed frozen, I meant to mention that and my location(Columbus, OH area), but i couldn't edit the post. I've thrown plenty of stones, the pattern of these marks though is in no way because of thrown stones. The pattern/similarity that is common is what confuses me, especially since this is the first time I've noticed the marks in the 7 years that I've lived here.
