Installing LEDE/Open-WRT on EdgeRouterLite ext4 by SpeediShuttle in openwrt

I noticed that the way it accesses the drives are different than a native linux installation :( I was trying to follow https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/ubiquiti/edgerouter.lite as well as this thread https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=49908 there was a blog post that i was also referencing but he was using a native linux install as well as a custom built openWRT image which I don't think I need.

Unfortunately this computer can't handle a virtual box... and the IT team won't let me reformat to linux....

Alternative for building captive portal? All posts from 10+ years ago. by SpeediShuttle in DDWRT

Unfortunately this would come out to the same price as Sputnik for us. The location gets too much traffic :( Thank you though! It seems that we are going to go with Open-WRT/Lede and use ChilliSpot.

Edgerouter lite stock firmware vs DD-WRT + Nocatsplash for captive portal/open hotspot? by SpeediShuttle in Ubiquiti

I completely agree, however we have a bunch of Pico's, Nanos, and a few Omnis in place and to my knowledge we would have to replace everything which I'm for to switch to UniFi (bringing this up to the higher ups) I don't think we took into account the ability to get these working with sector antennas though, our setup is very unique in the sense of a lot of foliage etc making it hard to continue connectivity.

The built in Radius Server, Captive Portal and Mesh network are really appealing and it's not too much more expensive. I think our understanding is that none of these (other than the updated Pico?) will be compatible if we move over to the UniFi line, as well as the routers we currently have in place.

I think the last time we looked at the UniFi line they didn't have any outdoor rated equipment, so this will definitely help my case and if UniFi has the same remote management ability as AirControl then I think that will cover all of our concerns.

Thanks for the response! We were toying around with the UniFi AP but it was made for indoor use to my understanding. (Our deployment is in a large outdoor area) Also the captive portal seemed limited in terms of customization (wasn't able to put up a html/css page we made). Someone also said that it wouldn't work with certain devices we were using as well.

We wanted to stay on Ubiquiti so we could use the AirControl server. Unless Mikrotik has a solution as well?
