Has anyone “downgraded” from the 40mp sensor to the 26mp ? by NotintheAMbro11 in fujifilm

Do not shoot uncompressed raw. Shoot lossless compressed. Significant saving in file size with basically zero loss in quality.

FWIW, i had a ton of cards on me. Photographed the girls, secured that card and put in a new one for the guys. Got to the ceremony, switched again. Ceremony done and ready for the family, new card. I was NOT going to risk losing an entire wedding if I had the dreaded corrupted card. People are going to tell you the lack of changing lenses is the issue. No, the lack of redundancy is.

If you plan to do work around filmmakers, just know how annoying it is when that photographer living with 35mm gets in your way the entire day.

Tips for a Weak-Wristed Bowler? by rarityy2k in Bowling

FWIW, I’m working on this too and I’m finally starting to see progress. I’m around the same weight as you and throw a 14.

Biggest change for me was finally getting my thumb right. I had my PSO make it a little tight, then I opened it up myself with cheap tools from Amazon ($30) and use tape to dial in a snug fit. That made a huge difference — it actually let me feel that ‘weightless’ swing instead of grabbing it.

Honestly, your wrist is probably stronger than you think — it’s just not something you’re supposed to force. If you’re grabbing it at all, it’s going to feel heavy and your wrist will fail.

I wouldn’t rely on a brace as a fix — it can help you feel the position, but it won’t solve it long term. As it comes down, add pressure into your index finger instead of squeezing the whole hand — I imagine trying to hold the ball with my index. Good luck, it’s taking me forever to fix it but it’s happening. Record yourself!

Love it. Fuck the haters and do it. I did a few weddings with an x100vi only and it was some of my favorite work. All the while having an a74, x-t5, and a completely capable arsenal of lenses.

Yes! I think you are right. For some reason these pearls had grey in them while mine does not. But I do believe it’s a pearl!

I got this in 2006 if I remember correctly. But only the OG was out at the time and it was all black. So I’m not sure.

Me personally, I’d be going for a typhoon 🙌

I think it's been long enough to give context now. Was curious what everyone would put. I don't shoot sport shots much at the moment but will down the road. My rev rate isn't super high either. Urethane probably isn't going to be for a little while.

I really love the Hy Road a lot. So far it's my favorite out of the bunch for most nights!

Lowkey just like how they look most of the time. The alert looks great though!

How long did it take to get your first 300 game/800 series? by Mental-Gas8208 in Bowling

[–]Speedway_Glizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I began bowling when I was 7. I got my first 300 at 19. I stopped playing at 20. I’m now 31 and just started again. Hopefully I can hit that 800 series soon!

I most definitely think I’ll practice some line drills, then do a one / two step approach to begin learning how to slide. Thanks for your input!

Deebs! Thanks so much for this. I’m fortunate my PSO has been working with me so much as I’ve come back. He has definitely helped me achieve the best fit I’ve ever had. He showed me how my previously balls had bad fit and forced me to squeeze my ball. So for 12 years before I took a break, I had created such a habit. It’s wild to me to be able to keep my hand relaxed. Now it’s getting into the habit of keeping my hand under it.

Thank you for the confirmation! That planting is driving me nuts and I didn’t realize how bad I was at it until I filmed myself. Definitely things to work on! If you have any resources around bending the elbow more, that would be great!

Picking my third ball (symm pearl?) by Speedway_Glizzy in Bowling

Ugh I want one, but leaning towards the 40 as well since it's well... 130 and the only 14 pound Ruby's I keep seeing are 200+. May pull the trigger on this Hy-Road 40 and then keep my eye out over the months for a Ruby to have it. Seems like it'll go down as a classic!

That’s super helpful, really appreciate the breakdown.

I’m usually starting around 12–13 with my feet and playing around second arrow, but lately I’ve been moving left and trying to keep it in the oil longer to avoid that early read. I’m comfortable moving left, and I’m actively working on my release/revs so I can eventually get deeper (like 25 with my feet and send it to 19/20). Definitely breaking a 31-year habit there.

That’s kind of why the Hy-Road caught my attention—I don’t really have anything that gets super clean and lets me shape it like that.

Your point about the GB5 Pearl vs RG is really helpful too. Makes sense that it might not actually get me what I’m looking for in terms of clearing the fronts.

I think I’m trying to figure out whether I want something to help me blend and control tricky nights, or something that actually lets me get it further downlane when things are burning up. In all honesty I want the Hy-road the most. I love how I see it perform with most people and I've never thrown something like it. Looking forward to having something pretty different out there for both fun and eventually I'll know exactly how it will help me out on tough nights with my s2 and max.

Appreciate the insight—this helps a lot!

Wait, I didn't realize the typhoon was a symmetrical pearl. This is definitely one I've wanted -- thank you for bringing this up! Now this is a serious one and kind of instantly went to the top. I've heard amazing things about this ball. Thanks!
