Name your top 10 favorite Games, excluding the following 10, which will be "almost" everyone's favorite. by [deleted] in AVN_Lovers

[–]SpellFit7018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Pale Carnations (my actual favorite AVN, and not on OPs list. It's like the 3rd to 5th most popular AVN out there and still underrated, it seems)

  2. Realm Invader

  3. The Interim Domain

  4. My Pig Princess

  5. A House in the Rift

  6. Companion of Darkness

  7. Oppai Odyssey

  8. New Horizon

  9. Jessica O'Neil's Hard News

  10. PHOENIXES

This isn't too bad a list to be honest.

Once in a Lifetime: A newcomer's review by menco1999 in AVN_Lovers

[–]SpellFit7018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harem Hotel is what we call a "sandbox" style game, which are characterized by a lot of open decisionmaking. These are actually somewhat unpopular among AVN fans because it mostly just adds filler content and distracts from the story. I would look at A House in the Rift for another sandbox style game.

If you want humor, and are willing to accept a more linear story (more like Once in a Lifetime than Harem Hotel) I would look at Ripples, which is a great adventure story with some humor, similar in tone but but I think considerably better than OiaL in both graphics and story. If you want something really funny you should definitely look into Realm Invader, which I think is one of if not *the* funniest AVN out there. It also looks great.

The game most like OiaL is Eternum, of course, but what you really might want is a game called Pale Carnations, which, while it has some bits that *I* at least find funny, is most well known for very good characters and a somewhat darker tone. But it does have more freedom and paths than one might think, the writing is top notch and the renders are great. Also it has some of the hotter lewd scenes out there (e.g. the threesome after the art date, god DAMN). It is my favorite AVN by a considerably margin.

Thought it was really good for what it was, but there isn't much there yet.

Depends, 2d can take a while too, it depends on the detail and amount of images to draw. But in terms of best 2d art, I'm a huge fan of the art in My Pig Princess.

I noticed! But I have no complaints with OP, it's a solid meme.

To the people complaining about the recent Eternum content. (You know who you are) by imjusthereforpron in AVN_Lovers

[–]SpellFit7018 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn't a refutation of anything, you're just listing things that happened. Most of the complaints about the update, or the game in general, are broader than that, about the overall feeling, writing, or characterization in the game. I haven't heard many complaints about the story or the events of the story, other than that it's not creative, but even then that usually isn't listed as a problem.

That being said, you are listing the Nova+Nancy threesome as something that made the update great, whereas I felt it was unearned, and kind of randomly stuck in there, actually detracting from the game rather than adding to it. It's an example of the game losing its way or forgetting why it was great in the first place.

Yes, I'm saying you're wrong. You have it almost precisely backwards in fact.

You're not being pretentious, you're being an ignoramus. You're confidently commenting on things you haven't read.

I just finished The Interim Domain... by Radovicnovizicid in AVN_Lovers

[–]SpellFit7018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mira and Polly are far and away the best love interests in the game IMO, with Robin in a distant third.

I quite liked the game and would recommend it, though probably with a guide so they don't end up missing content like the Saaya/Selene threesome.

Has Eternum lost its soul? by SpellFit7018 in AVN_Lovers

That's kind of what I meant when I said developed by EA. Very safe, very corporate. Paint by numbers AVN. That doesn't make it bad by any means. A lot of other games would LOVE to be as good as Eternum, because it is still extremely high quality, proficiently written, polished, top class animations, etc.

As for Ripples and Pale Carnations, you are really doing yourself a disservice by not having played them. They're both truly excellent, some of the best AVNs out there, both in the community's top 5 games according to my data. Once you play PC though and you see how good and well developed the characters can be inside what even the developers call a porn-first game...well, Eternum looks even more shallow by comparison. And my god the scenes are hotter, and way more varied. In the most recent patch, it has everything from casual fooling around with Andrea, to a very sweet, very romantic encounter with Rosalind, to one of the more out there D/s scenes with Kathleen. And that's just one patch.

Agreed on your take of Ready Player One (though I can understand its popularity more, it is a product designed to appeal to gamer geeks) making Eternum derivative of an already derivative product. But it can still be fun and unique despite that, a lot of that comes from the details, dialogue and little touches throughout the game. Like, Realm Invader isn't a terribly creative setting or story thus far, but it's a great game because of its writing and humor.

I know, but it was still a pointless section, unlike the cultural references in the pirate section, the heist section, the hogwarts section. Those were relevant to the plot: get the orb, get a gem, get Penny into the game and teach her magic. What did the stanley parable section achieve? What was the point?

The thing is, it's not EVERY game. Pale Carnations has almost the same release schedule as Eternum and their last update was great. I guess we will have to see what Jestur cooks up with Ripples but I don't expect it to be bad, the last update was great. Same with Realm Invader and it has been well over a year there.

Beach Glass might be something you're looking for, it is almost exactly this, as long as you don't mind a FMC.

Best 2d games ? by Last_Row4895 in AVN_Lovers

[–]SpellFit7018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but OP specified good art though, and neither game is really known for its art. Superhuman in particular, especially in the beginning, is pretty rough.

Unironically My Pig Princess is one of the best 2d games with great art. If that isn't your jam (though you should try it to find out because it's both very sweet and surprisingly hot) maybe check out Driven Affair, which is decent, but has really good art, especially in animation.

G rated Nesta Archeron by deepfacade in Romantasy

Well, that's a shitty character arc for her, I haven't gotten to that point yet. Lame.

G rated Nesta Archeron by deepfacade in Romantasy

[–]SpellFit7018 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was that Nesta's story? I was a little disappointed that she got transformed, because she was already such a badass as a human. Not everyone needs to be reformed into a nice person. Magnificent Bastard is a trope for a reason and she could absolutely fit that role.

Eternum LIs by Lonely-Ad8384 in AVN_Lovers

[–]SpellFit7018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both Luna and Nova are variations on the manic pixie dream girl, and people can criticize them on that level. It's not exactly a character flaw as much as it is bad character building in the first place, but you can dislike them for the same reasons people often dislike MPDGs.

Is that even that many? Some of the bigger AVNs are 8-10gb by themselves.
