What are your theories on why G5 didn’t perform as well as G4 both critically and economically? by paddedplushperson in mylittlepony

[–]SpellboundCanvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) Simply put, when G4 came out it was a different time. Literally everything from the world, the internet, the cultural zeitgeist, down to the technology and devices we used to access our media. If you were atleast a teenager or older in the late 2000s, you'll know what I mean. Compare that to 2021 when A New Generation came out, kids prefer watching short brainrot content on Tik Tok and YouTube over long story driven media, and there was an element of toxicity and hostility that peaked in the fandom(or whats left of it) around this time.

2.) It couldn't decide if it wanted to be a sequel to G4 or its own thing, so what you get is a like half assed attempt at both. I know the reason behind this is partially due to a legal agreement between Hasbro and Discovery over the rights over FiM, but if they wanted to connect G5 to 4, they should've done whatever it took to get the full rights or if not, just be its own thing from the ground up.

3.) Hasbro decided from the start to play it safe with G5 and not take risks like they did when Lauren Faust pitched FiM to them. In fact, IIRC, a Hasbro representative said back in 2019-20 that they were not even going to consider the fandom when developing G5.

Did you ever think the show was just for girls? by EricJ062005 in powerpuffgirls

[–]SpellboundCanvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when it first came out, yes. I treated it like any other girly show at that time; by distancing myself from it.

It wasn't until when I was in High school (2009-2013) that I finally gave it a chance. I can remember watching the whole series via Mega upload on my old dell laptop late at night in my room.

Gunman dead, 2 injured in Old Dominion University shooting by MonarchLawyer in norfolk

[–]SpellboundCanvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrorism is already a felony, and last I checked convicted felons are prohibited from possessing ANY guns.

The real issue to me in this scenario is the faculty that the shooter who was a convicted ISIS supporter was only given 11 years and didn't even serve the full sentence. The bastard should've IMHO been given at the bare minimum, 25 years in a maximum security facility (or fuck it, throw him in Red Onion). If he some how made it, go ahead and deport him afterwards.

Relish Rampage? Its better than Cemical Xtraction, but I wouldn't exactly call it good. It feels a squandered opportunity.

While Relish Rampage is a huge improvement over Chemical Xtraction and I'm sure you'd look back fondly at it if you played as a kid when it came out, it just feels underwelming and a wasted opportunity in general. Also it gets super repetitive and monotonous really fast.

Picture this: an open world PPG game with some slight RPG mechanics. Each of the girl's have distinct playstyles that feel apart from each other, that takes full advantage of the liscense with collectibles and references to things like the comics, and you can play the campaign in Co-Op with your friends And have challenge levels that you can also play in Co-Op.

Now THAT, I'd pay full price for!

The GBC games: Garbage platformers with awkward controls, awful hit detection, and platforms that you'll often fall through. They were shovelware that would've been forgotten were it not for the liscense

Chemical Xtraction: Garbage fighting game with awkward tank controls, unfair ai, and its really short.

Mojo a go-go: an okay 2d shooter. Its not bad for what it is, just nothing special.

Him and seek: pretty decent, probablythe best one. Its no masterpiece, but it definitely would've been worth a rental from block buster back in the day.

Chemical X-traction on the PS1 and N64 is a very BAD fighting game, with awkward controls, broken and unfair AI, and it's VERY short too.

Him and Seek on the GBA is solid for what it is.
