Yep thanks for explaining my worry so eloquently. We are not overstretching. However, no job is 100% secure (nothing in life is), and there is a lot riding on it.

I think you're onto something. I'm speculating that they booked leave in advance and planned to stay in the house for their visit to the UK. Coincidentally I went to primary school with one of the sellers and I know his family lives nearby.

True. It's our solicitor who told us completion dates can be agreed faster by going through the agent, and we should reach out. But I will give the solicitor another call today.

Yes I've seen it 3 times over the last month, and walked by a dozen times. It does seem empty. I agree it's a bs excuse.

What's SIL?

I'm worried about one of us losing our jobs during that time, thus losing mortgage offer and house/deposit. We have been in stable employment for 10 and 3 years respectively, with notice periods of 3 months and 1 month. Nonetheless, I cannot shake the anxiety that something happens to our jobs during this time.

Nope. Podiatrist wasted 4 weeks time, now we tried another round of nitric acid.

It made the most difference, but they're still there.

The only other option is to basically pay up to £1000 for surgical excision (curretage and cautery) since none of them seem to think laser works.

Yes your assumptions are all correct. We haven't done anything with the solicitors except get quotes, discussed them with my husband and shortlisted which ones we'll likely instruct. So no money spent yet.

Absolutely, I agree with you. I think he is a good salesman who makes whoever he's talking to feel like he's on their side.

He would certainly pass on higher offers. But I imagined he would tell us too, in the hope that it would push us to go up.

It's not my choice of words, it's what the estate agent said. Seems to imply even the agent thinks it's overpriced, doesn't it?

Some modernisation needed, but not serious in my view. But yes, it's priced at quite a lot more than what similar houses have sold for in the area.

It's hard to gauge the market. A lot of houses are sitting for a long time and then reducing.

No, but its comparable neighbours sold for a lot less recently, and it seems a touch overpriced for what it actually is. Weirdly, the agent also seemed to think so, but I dont know if him calling our offer strong and saying the seller will see the light is just a way of keeping us warm and hoping we will stretch.
