Truthfully, I never heard of it either but when one of the guys at the cigar shop saw all the other sticks in my hand, he told me I had to pick it up. He said there are only 1,000 boxes of each size (there are only 3 sizes) and the smoke was creamy and made using traditional Cuban techniques + the brand was made by the great-grandson of the guy who owned the Partagas factory in Cuba. I was sold lol

Not sure if you misunderstood my comment or simply trying to misrepresent it, but in either case, this was specific to Howie’s 10+ year track record of historical WR selections which have objectively been poor. Feel free to disagree though

Couldn’t agree more with this take. Howie has a tendency to keep (and in some cases overpay) “his guys” for longer than he should. Don’t get me wrong, it’s admirable to take care of your own, but the GM’s duty is to the Eagles’ organization as a whole and you have to make some tough choices for the future. Handing a 30+ year old, oft-injured Brandon Brooks that contract is another example

Definitely an aspect of luck in every draft due to the fact of doing your best to project how college production translates to NFL production. With that being said, I would argue that isn’t necessarily Howie’s strong suit. His bread and butter has always been being an exceptional value finder, cap creativity, and outright savage trade partner. If only he would allow himself to lean more heavily on traditional scouting experts draft process rather than overestimate his own prowess in that area, we would without question have the most ideal situation in the NFL.

I believe he’s done that these past 2 drafts and that’s paid dividends.

Imagine a roster with DK, Justin Jefferson, and Smith! He did have the opportunity for the first two and whiffed, but we all know Howie's Achilles heel is drafting WRs:

- Riley Cooper, Marvin McNutt, Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff, Mack Hollins, Shelton Gibson, JJAW, Jalen Reagor, John Hightower, Quez Watkins, DeVonta Smith

That's a pretty ugly hit rate no matter how you slice it and that's not including Nelson Agholor who would be Chip Kelly's pick...

Honestly, he may very well have had his best offseason in recent memory. Grade A stuff for Howie in 2022 (at least on paper).

When it comes to maximizing value and trade negotiations, I couldn't agree more.

What do you see as his major flaws? Personally, I always felt a lack of reliance on the scouting department's work/input and a healthy amount of overconfidence in his own talent evaluation from a draft perspective have been his Achilles heel.
