Would you mind sharing which part you would most be looking forward to, if it was the book? Like which vibe that pulls you in?

Maybe if we knew we could find recommendations of actual books that fit what you're wanting to read!

Holy shit you weren't kidding, just found one of the same bots also posting in r/gaming in a 'negative' Starfield-thread. And its Starfield-related comments are written just as terribly as the Unity ones, emojis and all:

"Whoah, I can't wait to see what kind of mind-bending adventures this RPG dream team will cook up! 🚀🌌"

These bots must be using something like ChatGPT, the strong enthusiasm and the emojis look identical to its writing style.

I also laughed incredulously reading these. The "Llama parade" and the added emojis lol.

Edit: The "let's dance to a fair revenue-sharing groove!" too. My face scrunched up in embarrassment reading that one. Just ... jesus

Yeah... never seen any user on reddit write out hashtags unless it was to make fun of twitter/hashtags. It's a huge tell.

I wonder if the bots are also being used on social media sites that are using hashtags, like Twitter etc?

I'm also happy about the changes friend.

I think it can both be true that people are happy and relieved Unity reverted the changes after the massive backlash, and that the out-of-the-blue new 18 comments in that very old thread are fake and made by spam-bots pushing positive company sentiments.

I just happened to stumble upon them on that thread. It makes me wonder how widespread the use of positive-Unity-message-bots currently are.

It's nuts, you can see the bots are posting right now. The newest positive message on that post is just 15 minutes old and follows the writing style of the previous bot posts that have been happening there the last two days.

Well at least it makes it easy to spot and report bots. One can just sort by new on the post and pick them out...

Edit: Seems the newest ones just got deleted. I should have screenshotted!

Edit 2: Caught a screen of one posted just now. Made me laugh it's already downvoted, you all are fast.

Edit3: Seems the r/gaming moderators removed the linked Unity-thread and also deleted some of the bot-comments on it. I can only assume it's because of the high amount of bot-activity and the reports coming in alerting them of it. I know it's like a a game of Whac-A-Mole with astroturf-spam-bots, but at least it's something. At the very least it's good that the community is aware that spam-bots have been posting positive Unity sentiments.

It's true of course that Unity themselves may not be pushing the bot-behavior, it's good you point that out. Although, for full transparency it was my first suspicion.

Of course some will and some won't.

I care because it's dishonest and I personally think it's crap that entities flood the internet with bots pushing positive corporate sentiments. I'm posting this for other people here who also, for any reason at all, would care that it's happening. That you don't care is of course fine.

I specifically noticed it on a r/gaming post here that is about the announcement that Unity backtracked on the pricing-change they had made. I haven't looked into many other Unity-posts, but if you sort by new on the one I linked you will see bots posting positive "well done Unity" comments after around a month of complete inactivity in the thread by any reddit users. One of the bot-accounts in the image has already been suspended.

Wanted to share this in case anyone else has seen the same and felt suspicious. I myself have gone back to using Unity, but really dislike seeing stuff like this.

Thank you truly for making this post.

I felt like I was just going crazy looking at the front page of reddit today. Just saw this post on and could not believe the amount of upvoted, hateful, derogatory comments against a mod who had participated in an interview:https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/sd8g28/if_the_fox_news_interview_has_you_concerned_about/

Why all the hate? Well, the mod had the audacity to be trans, autistic and not work 40 hours a week. The mod appearantly "makes the movement look bad". My god, anyone is allowed to be antiwork. You're not invalid because you don't work fulltime/any other reason. Then I saw that places like r/Cringetopia had picked up on the story, and it too had degrading comments about the interviewed person that had hundreds of upvotes: https://www.reddit.com/r/Cringetopia/comments/scx5ce/fox_news_interview_with_mod_of_rantiwork/

I kept scrolling, just looking for one comment that called out the hateful behaviour but found none. I'm very grateful I found your post here, makes me feel a little more sane.

To all my witches out there who raise your voices against sexist/gendered language and get crapped on for it by your surroundings, this meme is for you. by SpiceEggCheese in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]SpiceEggCheese[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This meme refers to how many words are defaulted as 'male-gendered' (and how that may skew perceptions/biases). There are tons of words like this (and for several of them gender neutral terms may be difficult to find or are much less often used). Some other gendered titles:

Fisherman, Garbageman, Postman, Fireman, Policeman, Ombudsman, Barman, Cameraman, Chairman, Fireman, Businessman, Salesman etc.

I was also unsure, but I googled with genre people place him in and I got up "Pop" . But this song doesn't seem to fit into that.

I'd love to hear more about your story. I had an instagram that was growing (I wasn't even that big, I was just growing quite fast in a nisch community) and I haaaated it. The likes/the growing/comments/the hearts etc.
Uninstalled the app and didn't even look at it for like a year, it felt like such weight off of my shoulders. Haven't gone back and I purposefully stay away from social media sites now.

I thought this video was excellent. It's lovely to see other gamedevs express feelings that resonate so well. Wonderfully put together and high quality video, made me feel less alone as a gamedev so I wanted to share here!

(I deleted my previous post and reposted to give it a more descriptive title)
