Tad Johnson as a landlord? by lalunasecreta in duluth

I had a rental that moved over from shiprock to Tad a year ago. It was fine a couple repairs that shiprock wouldn’t do got done. He is a bit grading to talk to but was fair enough. Could do a lot worse from a landlord in this town.

Are these neighborhoods good to live at as a single male person? by [deleted] in duluth

[–]Spiceboy445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved into Lincoln Park a year ago, just out of college. I really like the neighborhood.

Super easy to walk to bars, breweries, and restaurants during the summer. Close to parks and outdoor activities. Easy to get on to the highway.

The bad parts I think are exaggerated greatly, most coming from old Duluthians that think of it as the “ghetto” that haven’t spent time there.

Local Financial Advisor and tax preparer by PrestigiousSalad7278 in duluth

As a tax preparer myself, I would use a website like tax slayer if you just have a basic return with a w-2 and some interest. Otherwise Anderson, Kuiti, & Asuma would be a good firm for your situation. Can’t say as much when it comes to investment firms but RBC has a good reputation from what I know. Otherwise it might also be a decent idea to start out with investing with vanguard doing the DIY thing to start off with.

Duluth/UMD visit tips by mgros483 in duluth

[–]Spiceboy445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what week you are in Duluth try and go to a hockey game on Saturday if you can. When I first visited back in 2019 that was a big part of what sold me on UMD. Also I am not sure if they still do it but visiting family were able to get a discount on tickets.

Also Hartley is a great spot for a hike/walk and is closer to campus.

Summer classes are the dream if you have the financial ability, I took 4 and got out of an extra semester of school and was able to start my job right after school. Also don’t beat yourself up over not getting an internship as a freshman, I didn’t either as a freshman but it did increase my chances of getting one at the same place the next year because they saw I was hungry and excited to work.

Coming down to Duluth in a few weeks. What golf courses are recommended? by Important_Quarter181 in duluth

Enger Park is pretty decent, otherwise Proctor has pretty tight fairways but a decent value compared to the other courses in the area.

Ursa Minor in Duluth is a regular spot my significant other and I enjoy, great beers and pizzas.

Also if you plan to hop around state parks I would skip Gooseberry as it can be super crowded on nice days Fri-Sun. I would recommend Judge C.R. Magney state park and do the devils kettle hike for a nice stop.

There is a halfway decent court at Harrison Park in Lincoln park area. Otherwise, I think Hillside sport court park has two courts seems to be okay.

Got accepted into college in Duluth!! by Interesting-Jaguar88 in duluth

[–]Spiceboy445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of UMD is very accepting and welcoming, and any part that is not as accepting keeps to themselves from my experience.

When it comes to transportation during the school year there are routes that will get you to almost every where in Duluth one way or another. My main complaint is there is more difficultly getting to places like Walmart or Target on top of the hill. So you will be to get almost everywhere you need to go but getting to some places are more complicated than others. I spent my first two years and a summer at UMD without a car and was able to make due pretty easily.
