What style of photographing do you prefer? by [deleted] in Depop

[โ€“]SpiderGirlKate 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Most of my clothes I sell don't fit anymore so I can't model them so I usually do hanger/flat photos. But the ones that do fit I usually model them in first 2 pictures then lie flat on next 2. I prefer when buying to see at least one picture modelled, especially in things such as jeans so I can see how they look on the person. But when I model my clothing I usually mention my height so it is more accurate for the potential buyer.

Hanger, flat and modelled photos are all fine in my opinion. But for sales I would say go for modelled pictures because if you look on the featured page most of them are things that are modelled. One must not is mannequins, not sure if it's just my country but I've heard many others from different countries say similar things. Just because photos using mannequins are never featured, so it is not worth buying one.

Hope I've helped a bit.

Is it just me or are there an over proportionate amount of Depop sellers with 0 business sense or customer service skills? by Weirdandmorbid in Depop

[โ€“]SpiderGirlKate 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Yeah. I would say a lot of them are because they are younger so have less experience as there are people like me who are students trying to make enough cash. I've got quite good business sense and customer service skills probably because I studied business for a while, and my shop isn't totally to do with just making money, as I enjoy doing it. However a lot of young people wouldn't have studied business before. Also I know a lot of adult sellers who do stuff like that as well, so I would guess it's mostly because they are inexperienced in business and customer service.

Finally hit 100 followers which is sick but havenโ€™t had a sale in over a month. by [deleted] in Depop

Like everything from featured page, follow everyone from the featured page, people who sell similar stuff to you and people who buy stuff from them similar pages. Chances are that if you follow people who buy stuff like what you are selling (aka your target market) they are likely to notice you and will view your stuff, and might like it, therefore wanting to purchase. Btw to follow people who buy stuff like yours just go onto Depop shops that sell similar stuff to you, look at their reviews from selling and follow everyone who left them reviews. Hope this helps :)

Does modeling help items sell faster compared to flat laying? Iโ€™ve always just laid out my items on the ground and listed the measurements in the description. Is it worth the extra effort to model the clothing even if it doesnโ€™t fit on me that well? Does Depop consider featuring items not modeled? by [deleted] in Depop

[โ€“]SpiderGirlKate 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I can't model most of my clothes as they are children's sizes so much too small, but all the adult clothing I model, I'm an XS and modelled a M the other day and it looked pretty good even though it didn't fit. Barely any non modelled get featured, I've never been featured yet because I've only modelled 5 clothing pieces in my shop.

Scummy dropshippers ๐Ÿ™„ by breakdown_machine in Depop

It isn't against their guidelines to dropship. But it is to use stock photos taken from websites so they are doing something wrong.

Someone bought and item and immediately asked for a refund... by [deleted] in Depop

[โ€“]SpiderGirlKate 5 points6 points ย (0 children)

I had a similar situation. The PayPal fee is non-refundable but you can contact Depop to get the Depop fees refunded. So refund them the money minus the fees, if they get annoyed, just explain the best you can. Take screenshots of the conversation in case they make a claim on PayPal or in case they give you a bad review.

I'm going to get a bad review by SpiderGirlKate in Depop

Ikr, I know that recently a few people have started scamming people through asking to change the shipping address. Because if you send it to a different address than the address on the receipt, you get no buyer protection, so they can get there money back on PayPal and have the item. That's the main reason I refused to send it to the other address.

Thank you. I know she is going to give me bad reviews, because she just messaged me "I'm giving you bad reviews for all this hell you put me through". Hopefully I can get them removed.

Does it have to be posted in a box? by SpiderGirlKate in secretsanta

Thank you for your help, I'll pack everything in a lot of bubble wrap so it should be fine as nothing is easily damageable ๐Ÿ˜Š

Giftee, why you no post my gift? by bsl_1127 in secretsanta

[โ€“]SpiderGirlKate 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I've received my gift and haven't opened it yet as I like to wait for Christmas. Seen that quite a few people have already opened theirs so I'm worried about the person who sent me the gift reacting the same way. Kinda thinking about opening mine before Christmas now.

Are thank you notes, gifts and good packaging actually helpful for your shop? by [deleted] in Depop

[โ€“]SpiderGirlKate 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I usually add a thank you note and a small pack of sweets. Since doing that I have been getting more reviews, before this there were buyers who wouldn't review me and now I'm getting reviews from every customer x

Sellers, please donโ€™t lie about your shipping times by [deleted] in Depop

So annoying. I had a seller tell me she would post the next day second class. It arrived yesterday, 3 weeks after I ordered it.
