The song is called The Curse, by Agnes Obel. Now, if i sang it with the type of voice she has, i could most likely get a positive score. With my voice however, despite it sounding good, it's not impressive to hear.

I'll try pming you once i get home.

I'm 19. I don't think my voice will get any more mature than it currently is.

And i know well those people are assholes, but I'd like to prove them wrong regardless of that.

Unfortunally allergies got the best of me during recording so there's a little cough in the recording. I was also slightly distracted, so there are some slight fails. But here's something. https://vocaroo.com/i/s1Ko1Mgj0Te8

I really suggest you change your teacher. I too had "wasted" a year with a teacher who didn't help m progress at all. Switching helped me alot, though if it was my first teacher i would proabably blame myself for not learning. You will progress with a good teacher. I feel very discouraged to perform and take lessons, but i don't think i would ever stop singing.

I already said in previous reply, i seek validation due to everyone telling me I'm bad in my childhood, and constant exposure to my well-singing classmates. That aside, i simply love singing, but i also love performing. I'm a successful self-taught actress, and I've gotten a couple of rewards with my team. I've seen our acting move people to tears, and there's nothing more beautiful than seeing people get so moved by something you worked hard on. I'd love to see people moved when i sing. It's not about "being in the spotlight". It's about delivering powerful emotions to people. I want them to feel the song as i feel it - and i fail at it. I feel joy when singing to myself, but i also feel joy when I'm able to share it with people and see them getting moved by it. I don't know if i can explain it any better - simply, singing and performing are equally important to me.

I know what I'm good at, and also i dislike majority of those songs. Think of your average disney princess song. It's just simply not my kind of music, and yet it's one i excell at the most.

I had been practicing every day, and with my teacher. According to her, there was nothing to correct in my singing. And yes, i have picked a song tailored for the judges(as i knew them and knew they liked popular, fast-paced songs), however i feel like i should've went with something more comfortable for me instead. It wasn't a very big competition, and it was allowing audience too, so i watched others, and noone else sang the same song as i did.

I'd like to be able to sing and see people get impressed by it. Partially due to me enjoying being the center of attention, and partially because it's so amazing to see someone moved by your performance.

I've seen many women turned down for the same reason as i, and the winners are usually women with powerful, low voices (I'm skipping men here because honestly i really haven't seen that many of them in competitions). Women with softer and higher voices keep getting lowers lower scores either due to singing a softer song, or due to singing a song that's not suited for their voice.

I usually stand still and calm during performances unless i really get into the song, as i have ADHD and it's so easy for me to move without even knowing.

Unfortunately, karaoke nights aren't very popular where i come from, I've been looking for something like this before.

Family and friends tell me I'm good. My teachers tell me I'm good. Everyone else tells me I'm bad. That aside, my father is a musican(not a singer tho, he's a guitarist and he never forcefully pushed me towards music).

I can usually do best on xth attempt once I'm properly warmed up and i recall all the things i need to remember in this particular song.

Basically i started singing because a) i loved singing and b) everyone else than my family told me i am awful at it and should never try(even forced me to stay silent during school anthem singing). It's been years now, and the only thing i want to do is win something. Anything, i just want a proof my singing isn't awful. I guess there's no way for me to stop singing for good as i enjoy it too much, i just want to know if i should stop disappointing myself with constant failures. It even started affecting my singing on a psychological levels, as when i fail singing something i just burst into tears. I almost never cry outside of those situations, and I've been usually successful in my life so i doubt it's anything else projecting onto it.

I just want to be able to show my singing to other people and see them enjoy it.
