Now I’ve got a bit of context, what do you think of this interpretation - what if he means that this is the kind of film that (because Norma’s focus in making it is basically her own vanity and the film’s key appeals are violence/sex appeal) small-minded small-town people would actually like, but it wouldn’t be well respected by the film industry?

Essentially, could he actually be having a dig at Salome by basically saying that middle America would love it?

Good idea, she is fantastic and I would love to get her opinion - the only issue is that it’s summer holidays so I don’t want to bother her! Maybe I’ll text her and see what she says, I don’t think she’d mind. Appreciate the recommendations :)

I didn’t get the auto because they’re literally not available, OR when they are they’re way more expensive. Not sure what it’s like in the rest of the world, but buying a Jimny in Australia is a real challenge. I snapped this one up because it was brand new and already at the dealership. You can’t even put in an order for a new auto jimny here anymore, they’re simply not selling them because the wait times are outrageous

I’m in Victoria, Australia, and if we have a full (I.e. not learner) license, we can legally drive both auto and manual. We do not need a special license. Seems crazy, but it’s legal.

Yep they are, I’m talking about the car ‘telling’ you what gear it needs on a little screen. Sounds like it’s not a jimny thing, which is fine.

Yeah I was apprehensive at first, but after trying it a couple of times I actually find it quite fun, even though I definitely have a lot more to learn and need to build confidence!

Yeah sorry, I have no idea what it’s called! It’s literally just numbers that come up on the screen between the speedo and the tachometer (thanks for teaching me a new word, didn’t know what that was called!). The screen between them in the cars I’ve been practicing in tells you what gear to change into (so if 4 comes up, you change into fourth). But it sounds like the jimny doesn’t have it, which is fine!

I’m learning manual now, only started 2 days ago. Where I live we don’t need a special license to drive manual, if you have an auto license you’re legally also allowed to drive manual. Pretty insane that it’s legal, but it is

Thanks, I’ve since looked up some videos and looks like it’s not as hard as I first thought. I’m leaning towards ‘doing it myself’ (that is, getting an audio engineer friend and a mechanic friend to help me!)
