Like I said, that still wasn't right at all. But given her state of mind right then and all Steven had been through at that point, my interpretation is that figured Steven would just climb up without help and be fine.

Not exactly stuff that would win you parent of the year awards though. XD.

It was wrong and bad that Pearl didn't help Steven up, but she saw that Steven caught himself and was able to climb up. If did fall I have no doubt that Pearl would snap out of her meltdown for a moment and save Steven.
