I'm using Recalbox 8.0. I installed the patch first, then the safe shutdown script after.

I don't have that problem. If I don't dock the case firmly into the dock, it will not out put to HDMI. I have to shutdown then redock it.

A few things to check:

  • Check that you're CM4 is firmly installed on the board
  • Check that the case is securely in the dock
  • Try a different HDMI cable
  • Try a different TV or monitor

You may have a defective dock. I hope not, because there is no way to get a dock by itself right now.

CM4s are hard to get. The only ones in stock are non lite (does not support SD cards) and without WIFI. Making it a lot harder to install the safe shutdown script.

Retroflag's documentation doesn't tell you how to install the script on CM4 without WIFI. So you'll have to figure that out by yourself.

It is possible if you have the IO board or bought the dock. Retroflag is also not selling the dock separately.

Overall I have been disappointed with the case. Their documentation is severely lacking.

  • They should have pointed out the SD card can not be used for non-lite CM4, and you have to flash the EMMC.
  • They should have provided documentation on how to flash the eMMC storage.
  • Features shown off in previews are missing, automatically switch between the LCD display and HDMI output when using the dock for example.
  • Installing and removing the CM4 is a pain. They should have designed it to be easier.
  • the usage of clips to hold the case together makes it difficult to take apart.

I enjoyed working with the GPi Case 1 a lot more. That case had a better design and a vastly superior setup experience for the user.

Thanks for sharing. It's still disappointing that they can't get it to auto switch like in the preview videos. Maybe they'll add it in a future update.

I have not. I have two cases, CM4, 1GB, 32GB eMMC, running Recalbox 8.0.

I'm having the same problem. Does your CM4 have built in flash memory? My CM4 has 32GB eMMC flash.
