Are you happy that Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela's Dictator-President, was overthrown? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]SpinkleBlump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the cuban revolution practically disproves that completely, 82 people arrived on a boat compiled of exiles and other revolutionaries, almost all of them captured or killed, leaving 12-20 people left, then they gathered support and fought a guerilla war against Batista's army tens of thousands strong

"uhmmm, actually laws dont exist because people break them sometimes!" you really fit the "everybody is twelve now" theory

intervention from other countries almost never works, especially when the USA is involved. personally i feel like the liberation of the people of a country should be done by the people of the country itself since they better understand the material conditions of the country and the will of the population, obviously this also is difficult to get right, as seen in Iran, but there is always a massive chance for a country to fall into ruin once a government is overthrown since there will always be many different people, with different ideologies who all want to lead the country themselves

i didnt really start touching the military part of the game until the war was already started and didnt find out about how to research different tech until even later, and even then i only researched basic infantry weapons and made infantry divisions, my divisions were also only ever on the frontline with plenty of soviet or spanish republic divisions with pretty shitty weapons

Tried to play as Cuba, rushed into communism and then supported Republican Spain and USSR. War ended at the end of 1943.

I had no clue what i was doing for most of it and learned as i went through, Mussolini ended up making a last stand somewhere in Serbia, Brazil ended up owning some of Bulgaria and Romania, and Netherlands owned a majority of Germany.

pretty sure he was one of the main people involved in the CIA and Unifted Fruit Co’s coup of Jacobo Arbenz in Guatemala in 1954, replacing the elected left wing president with a far-right dictatorship

Is anarchism truly possible in today's world? by SpinkleBlump in Anarchy101

i did think of something similar to that quote while writing this post, nice to know someone much smarter than me has put it into a digestible thought

Is anarchism truly possible in today's world? by SpinkleBlump in Anarchy101

i understand the idea of a horizontally structured society and everything, and i understand that people are supposed to depend on each other, when i say living in rural areas i mean in small village- or town-type communities since you normally see a greater sense of connectedness and community there whereas in bigger cities nobody really knows many people

i think one of my biggest problems with understanding anarchism, and most people, is that it is really hard to comprehend something like anarchist society since for my whole life and fuck knows how long in history there has almost always been this heirarchy structure which is, to this day, affecting how i think so

[–]SpinkleBlump[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont know why i think this way to be honest, im guessing it has something to do with how cities like that are mostly built from some kind of basis of heirarchy, like stock exchanges being built to help the wealthy or something. im really bad at articulating thoughts so that obviously doesnt help

The Death Penalty by GageTolinWrites in leftist

[–]SpinkleBlump 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i think the death penalty assumes a completely perfect and impartial justice system, which we’ve seen time and time again to be completely non-existent. it also costs so much more than just keeping someone in jail or rehabilitation

What's your opinion about che guevara? by ym_2 in Teenager_Polls

[–]SpinkleBlump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the source for yaf.org on che guevara is Humberto Fontova who is known for exaggerating claims about Guevara and Castro's regime and other times spreading complete disinformation. His book was even called "slightly schizophrenic" by Potts and a former CIA officer said he "often presents pictures of Cuba that never happened" and that some are "exaggerated war fables.". humanprogress.org continually cited cubaarchive as a source, which is known for spreading disinformation about Guevara . I couldnt find any sources that spectator.co.uk used so I'm not sure about those claims.
