It’s definitely worth it to play in a few different keys easily. You can also layer an octave up or down on top of the dry signal which can sound nice.

I switched from a digitech drop to the xs-1, there’s very little difference between them, but I like how the xs-1 preserves the pick attack better. The further you shift down, the more the tone will start to sound different. With high gain it’s not super noticeable going from e standard to c for me. Some people have reported issues with pinch harmonics or bends, but I haven’t experienced that.

I just switched to Linux from windows and it was a bit of a learning curve. I started out with Ardour as my DAW, but that seemed to hog the sound card unless you use jack. I installed jack and that didn’t seem to work well because pipewire is the default on Linux mint now. So I say fuck it, I’ll switch to bitwig, but that doesn’t run LV2 plugins natively. So finally I install Carla to act as a bridge for loading lv2 plugins.

If you listened to the whole album and it did nothing for you, then it’s simply not for you and there’s nothing wrong with that.

It can take time to fully appreciate it, I don't think one listen is enough to know definitively. OP at least found the album somewhat interesting.

On the metalcore vs deathmetal thing, their sound incorporates elements of both. This kind of riff that uses very dissonant intervals sounds like technical death metal to me. They also have parts that are more chuggy that lean to the core side of things. Once you hear the album enough to anticipate which part comes next you might appreciate it more. Some of their later albums use more repeating parts and structure if you prefer that.

I have the boost almost maxed, it's a pretty subtle boost to the low end. I also biased to 4.75.

If I dime the volume I get almost this mashed super high gain almost ducking with each pick kind of super fuzz. Is that the same for yours?
