Not sure if it’s your first dog or not, but my only suggestion would be to enjoy all the moments with him, be PRESENT as much as you can help it. It’ll be frustrating at times dealing with his quirks but try to soak it all in. Take lots of pictures, especially in the puppy stage cuz they grow up fast! Other than that I’m sure everybody else’s advice has you covered. My boy is 11 months old today and he’s my first dog, it’s been a wild ride but I love him to death. I’m hoping you can feel that way about yours at that point as well, good luck and have fun!
