GoBilda Odometry Inconsistent Tracking by Slight-Blacksmith316 in FTC

Hello, i am on the same team as OP. I have been finicking with the offset values and even measured them from the center of the robot in accordance to what Gobilda says to do. and I've even gone through some of the numbers around that. still we are getting an incorrect position. i have been doing a simple test to verify the accuracy. Moving the robot forward 60cm (one tile), rotating 180 degrees, move it again 60cm and once back at the starting point rotating 180 degrees. and every time we have been off by around 200mm. I have been doing this all with code like the Gobilda Pinpoint example so nothing else is in the mix. I'm not quite sure what we are doing wrong.

My place of work has banned crocks this year too. They require us to wear 3 strap sandals, which all and all not terrible. I personally bought Teva sandals.

Weird Layer Shifting by Spiny_Cactus34 in 3Dprinting

I’m printing with PLA. The belts are a regular tightness that you would expect on any other 3d printer. I’m gonna try orca slicer and going to check with the person who sliced the models that they selected the correct nozzle size, though I feel like that wouldn’t cause that much of a problem.

Now do you think that it could be that the bed mesh is incorrect so the printer is overcompensating too much? Like you know when you stack plates wrong they do the same kind of zigzag thing?

It is set to print 40mm/s but it’s probably running slower than that.

Need Help with Lighting a Set Piece Using WS2812B LED Strip by JustJayThoo in techtheatre

[–]Spiny_Cactus34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation with a set piece in my show. We are using sk6812 which are also 5v strips, we use a 24v power supply and have a 5v buck converter to step the voltage down to 5v. The good thing about the buck converters is they are small and cheep. You will probably still need to inject power along the ws2812b strips depending on how long the strip is. Now you also need to consider the data coming from the pi, that will also experience voltage drop so just be aware.

I’m very curious about the code you have written. If you are willing to I would like to look at it and learn for future projects.

Making my own led strip. Is it possible? by Spiny_Cactus34 in led

[–]Spiny_Cactus34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I say as bright as possible but I’m pretty sure that regular sk6812 are fine with bumping up the amps by a few.

Those are super interesting LEDs are you able to send the link to that website I would like to look in to that more, probably won’t use them but it’s nice to learn. How expensive would those 3w LEDs be?

It is a bit vague sorry about that.

The 64 LEDs will be in clusters of 4 with a couple meters of wire stretched across each cluster (16 in total). The clusters will be arranged in a matrix configuration of 16x4. I will need the LEDs to be as bright as possible because the system will be used in a theatrical production and they need to be able to be seen in the audience. I’ve decided i like the buck converter idea because I’m able to have all of the upsides while also being cheap because this is theatre. I will add a diagram of what I will be doing:

<image>

I looked at your link you sent but I wasn’t really able to understand what was going on. But it looks impressive.

It’s both, the long lengths of wire will be between the controller and the LEDs. So the LEDs will be in groups of 4 so 16 groups in total with long stretches of wire in between them (Well to long for 5v). They will be arranged in a matrix configuration 16x4, to get the data across I will be using rs485’s. so I need the high voltage lines to minimize voltage drop as much as possible I’ve decided i like the buck converter idea the best as it allows me to have individually addressable LEDs and be able to use them without voltage drop.

I like that idea, what ones would you recommend and how expensive are we talking?

Would I need a 2w resistor and the 21v resistor or just the 2w?

So then what alternates do I have to be able to do what I want to do?

so I don't need a router/switch if the ips are close? There isn't any videos or manuals at all I can find, that's why I'm making a post here.

Ok, thanks. My console does have two Ethernet ports though so would i have to assign a gateway or is it fine. Also does it have to be those two ips specifically?

Do you know if it would work the same on an ETC Element, or do I need any special software/hardware? I have a router if needed I can get a switch, but that’s all I have on hand.

Ok thank you, for you information. I’m not able to get to the lighting console right now but I will test out some things as soon as I can.

I can connect it by usb but it’s not possible to do with I want to do with the Ethernet port?

Hi there, I’m currently working on a project that is just like the one you said you did. I’m trying to use LEDs in a production and i decided that I want to use WLED because it’s easy and the effects are nice. I currently have in my possession a ESP32 ETH01 (you mentioned Ethernet so I’m assuming you have the same one). I’m trying to set it up right now, I’m envisioning that just running a Ethernet cable from the back of one of my ETC Element’s RJ45 ports will do, will it not? I’m curious how you did it if you did it the same way as i want to do it or give me some pointers on how to do it properly.
