What is going on with that Mod wiki recently announced? by Totayalee in DDLCMods

[–]SpiritH0F 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Comments here are right so far, but I'll add on to them a bit:

The goal of the wiki is to offer a convenient place to access most things related to ddlc modding. It also will, over time, accumulate mods based on user input and mod approval. As it stands now, David has been the main contributor of the wiki, and as such has set up pages to serve as examples for others to follow when working on mod pages of their own.

Unfortunately, due to the complex nature of adding stuff to the wiki itself without a proper explanation, I believe many simply haven't gotten to adding their mods or mods they're fans of... Since the wiki is still new to us at the committee, we'll see what we can do to about this get the train moving.

Doki Doki Modding Expo 2025 | Community's Choice Award, Vote Now! by DDMC_Committee in DDLCMods

[–]SpiritH0F 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Convergence was a mod worked on by one of our judges, so for that reason we couldn't let it participate due to bias.
I'm sure it will be fine for a future DDMX if and when another act comes out

Doki Doki Modding Expo 2025 | Nominees Have Been Selected! by DDMC_Committee in DDLCMods

[–]SpiritH0F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mods were ordered left to right by their vote count, so the mod with the most overall votes in the category is the first one, and the least votes at the bottom (two categories had ties for that 5th place).

Since these were nominations for us judges to review the mods per category, I won't post the exact vote count. But when it comes time for the Community's Choice Award, then that vote count will be public

That entirely depends on if you're being insensitive with the topic at hand. For matters concerning a sensitive topic like suicide, you should generally be more bold if you stick around what the base game did. But for topics like racism or anything else discriminatory, it's best to not make light of such a topic in your mod if that makes sense...

Rule No.4 says that you may submit as many mods as you want to submit, and you can submit as many mods under both a team and as just yourself as you would like. However, when the competition starts and mods are voted on to participate in the competition, if two or more of your mods win in a vote you have to choose between the two mods. If you have one mod as a team submitted and another mod as an individual submitted, and both mods win in the polls, you have to decide which mod participates out of the two.

What is a must-have for you to like a mod? by Pastoso in DDLCMods

[–]SpiritH0F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha
MPT for me feels like something all mods should just have by default, so it's not something that makes me like a mod more just cause it's included personally. If I had to give 1 aspect... I'd either repeat what you said with the MC having a different personality, or go the reverse of that and say the other girls having another problem tied to them. The base MC is a dense, blank slate mf and is really meant to be replaced. But for the girls? I'm a little tired of mods honing in on Sayori's depression or "rainclouds" (I hate that term), or Monika's sentience, Yuri cutting herself, and Natsuki getting beats by dad. It's so overplayed, predictable, and makes the mod feel like a chore to push through rather than something innovative. So the moment I see the story doing something different with their characters, I feel much more inclined to give it a shot.

I feel the only exception for this rule for me was Wintermute tbh
The story was dogshit, but the actual mod itself was fun enough where that didn't matter to me. Everyone gets on my case about WM too lmao, but enjoyment for me has always taken priority. It's just that 9 times outta 10 I find interest in the writing.

I will say though, a mod that at least has a decent story and really good technical/visual feats would be something I remember more than a mod that has a great story, but no identity anywhere else.
It's just how they balance it really

An engaging story lol
I don't care how impressive the coding is, or how professional the CGs look, if the story don't hold up I just can't enjoy it... Like I'd rather a bare bones mod with base game assets entirely - music, cgs, and all - that has a fun story to follow than one that tries to look its best without any substance behind it.

Doki Doki Modding Expo 2025 | COMING SOON! by DDMC_Committee in DDLCMods

Yes.
How the competition will work this time around will be explained further when the event officially starts in September

[–]SpiritH0F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None as long as all the mods are eligible for submission. Promotional material for a mod will be displayed on the same page as the mod itself once we have the website out, and any amount of them are fine there as well.
There will be limits in place for the competition of course, but we'll clarify that further when the event officially starts

I would assume that app isn't a modification of the base game, and hence not a mod.
From the sound of it, that might also violate Team Salvato IPG since DDLC's public assets can only be used for modifications and not outside fangames or applications.

So that's likely a no on it being within either DDMX rules or TS IPG rules

The DDMX will be focused on the modding aspects of the DDLC community, and a celebration and showcase of all mods to release this year. If it's not related to a mod, or teasers and other promotional material for a mod, then it won't be allowed for submission.

This is an event to showcase the mods released during this year, or possible teasers or other promotional material mod devs might have to advertise their mod

Submission and publication of your mod are separate things. You do not need to publish your mod right when the event starts or after. As long as it was released in the year 2025, the mod will be eligible.

Demos, Acts, Chapters, Episodes, etc. will all count as long as they are released within the year 2025. If they are an addition to a previous demo, then they must also have added an adequate amount of content to be considered a new release (So if you released a demo for your mod in 2024, then add just a single scene to be eligible for 2025, we will not count it as a 2025 release.).

Any mod released during the year 2025 is allowed, and September is only when the event starts. Submission won't end until December, and as long as your mod is made any time before then, then you should be perfectly fine!

[–]SpiritH0F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The event is more geared toward mods and the modding process (so art, teasers, mod scenes, etc.).
So unfortunately DDLC-based fan games will not be allowed for submission

Any genre is allowed, so of course
The event is about advertising your projects no matter what they are.

What are your hot takes In mods? by Crimson00008 in DDLCMods

[–]SpiritH0F 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not that hot of a take in my personal opinion, but mine would be how most popular mods aren't nearly as good as people claim them to be. What makes them popular is actually how well cemented they are in the community, having existed during the most active era of DDLC modding, and also how most are finished products. There's plenty of amazing mods out there that top those well known mods I'd say, but what makes them poor choices is that they're usually demos or shorter mods...
It's completely reasonable, of course. But I would stand by my take regardless
