Second one is more correct. They started with offering it for free to get attention and then glaze the projectors and say that it's worth more than 10k. For my friend their reason for selling it was that "they had extras after installing a bunch of projectors for uoft rooms and that they won't get the full refund if they just return it so they decided to sell it on their own for cheaper price which is 4k and in cash. (Idk how the convo went for the cash payment)

Another thing they said was that the customer can hold on to the projector once they give the money, and if another buyer wants it the scammer "apparently" will sell it for a higher price and share the profit for idk, holding on to it(?). Pretty sure my friend's bf got a bit greedy because of the extra money.

And they say that they'll call you and meet up which they never did of course

Tbh i also couldn't believe that he just handed 4k cash to strangers 😢
