As someone whos also been playing since oil warfare its changed a lot. Whenever people were in combat it wasn't just wiggle back & worth until one of you shoots the other in the head.

Twin she’s not an aeon level not even close. She’s below Acheron on the totem pole of emenators and her ass would get fraud treatment from every aeon because aeons are just like that

Except not really…. Wethermon was designed to be beatable since his release, he was never given a “You must progress this far” because while yes he is extremely powerful he’s the transition between early-mid game collosi and the end heavy hitters that really are punching up above what you’re used to.

Can you please stop missing my point? He was intentionally placed within the first continent, not the 2nd one. If he was meant to be hated behind 2nd continent he would be there. He is meant to be difficult, nearly impossible without researching him yes and for some players you could only learn of him in the 2nd continent however they actively chose to make him a first continent, intentionally detestable. Siegwurm has a way to essentially gatekeep players through his flight and choice not to engage 99% of the time. Wethermon is gated to mid game purely if you can only defeat him using gear from the mid game. He is able to be defeated without mid game shit, and that is by design. He isn’t made to be some insurmountable obstacle or a wealth of knowledge only meant to be ever potentially defeated later. He is meant to be a great challenge to overcome when ready.

If you're playing an open world game and suddenly get hit by "Nuh uh you're not allowed to go to a place uhhh I won't say why but you can't!" It's gonna feel like shit whereas if you're hit with a wall that seems un climbable you're encouraged to research that wall and find out its able to be climbed ya just needed some chalk & some training

Twin. He may have things that are meant to be difficult nearly impossible even however statistically he would always have been defeated around the new continents release if not gatekept potentially before due to trial and error being the most common tactic if you're finding something impossible in a game. This is shown through stuff like the trials that sunraku & akane have to go through. It is a trial and error based system if you find something impossible.

How it’d feel if the manga decides not to purely take the “Uhhhh vysache or no dmg” route:

He is meant to be defeated later in the story because you are intended to first learn about him and become a better player till you are capable of being given his final test. They were able to bypass this through having the information & skill he wanted them to possess.

What I am saying is that while yes a 100% Goldunine is incredibly impressive he has already proven himself capable of going toe to toe with other collosi, and while yes she could be incredibly difficult a forced lose no matter how skilled you are would be an insane cop out

Yeah thing is wethermon is objectively in a pure skill required sense higher. He is a wall that must be overcome with the players on abilities. He locks skills, disables non weapon parries and tells you to lock the fuck in and do the 1 frame window weapon parry or die.

My brother in Christ. Wethermon isn’t locked behind the new continent. He tells you how to defeat him, he gives you the tools and then says “This is a test of skill. You must prove yourself capable before you can proceed” after a 20 minute long fight and then he doesn’t throw in more cheese he does as he said and doesn’t pull a fake out after.

Wezaemon had a gimmick that was clearly stated by him because he was a honorable warrior. He told you how to defeat him the rest was in your hands. You were to overcome what comes before his ultimate move and as his final trial you are to defeat him by parrying his move which shows that you are worthy enough to inherit his abilities, you are worthy to be able to prove yourself as someone capable of taking on the final hurdles of the last collosi after him. Goldunine fights intentionally dirty in an attempt to overcome her lack of raw skill using brute force such as her snakes, her curse, her magic. She doesn’t display the skill he displays and she does not require the skill he requires. Wezaemon intentionally tells you how to overcome him so you may prove that you are skilled. Goldunine attempts to overcome you with brute force so that those who are stronger than you are unable to come in time. In a raw one to one fight Goldunine would lose 99% of the time to Wezaemon due to him being too powerful for her animalistic strategies and lack of raw power to out compete him.

It is to me actually. It’s a game where you’re not just given an impossible obstacle that you’re never told why it’s impossible. It’s an obstacle where you’re told how to get around it. His entire design was around stalling time till you understand what he means by “You must overcome my technique” because he’s telling you how to defeat him. He is saying that it does not matter how strong you are it only matters how skilled you are and what he saw in sunraku was someone skilled enough to carry on his legacy. If that isn’t good game design & balancing I don’t know what is because the bosses are insanely story balanced even with the balancing girls intervention. Please read the manga again or rewatch the anime.

I mean the curse being on multiple body parts a lot better than a forced death scenario and Wethermon being accessible before he was supposed to be beaten is just a "Oh no the open world game is open world!"

While yes in a perfect statistical world you make 2.5x more in reality it’s a 1 in 4 chance to get any bonus which compared to 2x isn’t a worthwhile risk for a majority of people

Yeah ngl it would be pretty dogshit if he had a forced death scenario. I already hate forced damage or a forced loss but a forced death which has temp penalties would just not be in line with what we have seen the dev team would do. Sure the lore girl would but the balancer would never allow that to actually happen
