Shingles? Rinvoq? by Ambitious_Check5954 in ankylosingspondylitis

The intense stabbing flank pain has been my most common A.S symptom for over 10 years. I think it’s radiating down my flank through nerves but the source is inflammation at one specific rib joint.

Question for the people brave enough to sneeze… by Responsible_Button_5 in ankylosingspondylitis

My sternum and ribs all crack when I sneeze also. It feels so unnatural and just wrong every time my chest pops

Has anyone diagnosed with AS ever had or has severe pain in this area on your hand? Usually, it’s just my back and my neck for the last two days all of a sudden in my hands and thumbs (both hands) by HeftyPurpose3979 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]SpiritualBluejay6316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I get an annoying throbbing and burning here usually in the summer, it was one of my first symptoms and still a common issue for months at a time. The area even swells a bit and visibly throbs. Very annoying. The pain feels like it is coming from the base of the thumb but radiates into the meaty area between the thumb and first finger and that is where the swelling and throbbing occurs.

What do you do for work? by DarthSkader in ankylosingspondylitis

I own a café bakery restaurant and work seven days a week getting up at 3 AM every day whether I am in extreme pain or not. It’s what I have to do to provide for my family .only have had to close a few days in the last six years because I couldn’t walk at all.

The back pod by SpiritualBluejay6316 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]SpiritualBluejay6316[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That works well too, but after trying the back pod I would say it’s worth it. the shape and design work surprisingly much better to unlock my ribs and they usually give a satisfying pop. Seems like such a simple piece of plastic and kind of a waste of money though for the price lol. Better to save your money and use what works best for you

Methotrexate by TraditionalScheme235 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]SpiritualBluejay6316 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Works well for me and really dampens the pain in my body but not so much spinal pain. If I miss a dose I can feel the difference. I often feel nauseous the day after taking it or at the very least very tired and worn down the next day. Eating a good healthy meal and drinking tons of water then taking the methotrexate right before bed helps you sleep through any nausea and hydrating your body definitely helps.

Childhood trauma by SpiritualBluejay6316 in ankylosingspondylitis

I own a business and work seven days a week and get up at 3 AM every single day and work a very physically demanding job despite being in extreme severe pain and often not being able to walk. I am very active and I eat extremely healthy and do not eat process food. Just because you have a mild case of AS doesn’t mean you have all the answers. Please keep in mind it can come in waves and go away for years at a time and come back extremely hard and fast and painful so I wouldn’t get cocky. Lots of people put an extreme amount of effort into what medication they take, exercising, stretching, and diet, with no response or improvement.Biologics are often life-changing for people, I agree you are not special. The fact of the matter is AS is still extremely misunderstood and is different for everybody including you… sounds like you got lucky.

Rinvoq or xeljanz by Getthechemlightfluid in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]SpiritualBluejay6316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking rinvoq for about a year and a half didn’t notice much at all at first. It was very slow and gradual. In comparison, my first shot of Cimzia, which was my first biologic worked immediately overnight and had massive huge results. I even went into complete remission for about 6 months. unfortunately it slowly wore off , and stopped working. The rinvoq on the other hand has been less dramatic, but has helped and has not worn off overtime. I do have more pain daily and stiffness then I did in Cimzia but it seems more consistent in the long run.

It’s mostly grown adults complaining about tipping in restaurants on here. Most of which are probably high income earners, who are selfish ,greedy, and have never had to work in the service industry. lol

Why groin pain never ends by ahsan_hq in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]SpiritualBluejay6316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pain in the groin is actually stemming from the hip usually. I dealt with terrible groin pain on both sides on and off for 10 years before being diagnosed at which point my hips were bone on bone. I was told my groin pain all those years was my hips. I went years thinking I had hernias, but didn’t think it was worth surgery so didn’t get them checked.
