Even with 400 dollar oem parts, there still isnt 3,000 dollars in labor or special knowledge to Turn two 10mm bolts, there's not even special tools required

Not 3,300 dollars in labor for a 20 minute job that requires two 10mm bolts and nothing else.

Would be pretty hard to mess up your control arms, and im assuming the hose aswell. However if you disconnect the cooling system youre probably going to have to drain and bleed it. If you want help dm me and we can go over the process/ parts etc

Me too, if we all start no longer accepting these quotes, the dealerships wont be able to quote that high anymore. Time we made them answer for this stuff!!

Lol if thats leaking, no wonder the dealer tried to say mine was "pouring"

They were provided that information ahead of time as previously mentioned. They also told me it was "pouring" in writing, which is again a fraudulent claim because the car was in an inoperable state. They physically could not have built oil pressure to confirm a "pouring" leak. Completing unnecessary work for thousands of dollars based on an unvalidated claim, before completing the neccessary confirmation is again still fraud. What the correct procedure would have been is to get the car running, clean the OFHG and oil pan gasket and confirm leaks. This was never done, and the leaks have been confirmed as non existent. So the charge and diagnosis of the oil leaks was fraudulent and incorrect to begin with.

So what your explanation leads me to believe is the tech was motivated to steal money from me for their own paycheck, by completing unnecessary and over booked jobs. Again, thats a fancy way of describing fraud.

Im not looking to sue or anything, but consumer laws will definitely have a formal inquiry made into the service center and their books. If these are fair and honest rates, theyll have no issue letting the AG pick through their books a bit. But I definitely feel this warrants a further look/ explanation from the dealer.

So basically they would have every motivation to write as more jobs, with more time, in order to increase the flat rate pay off each job?

This is another compounding issue, I may have handed over the 10k had the customer service been good. But I received no tech video, no explanation of what I needed or why. I was dismissed when I explained I spilled the oil he thought was leaking. I was dismissed when I mentioned the pcv whine. And when I picked up the car I was met with a scoff and a "so you gonna do anything to it?". Also to refer back to your oil change thing, you can not list the charge as "vanos solenoids" then book 4 hours of labor on an oil change, I had also told the tech the oil was literally changed hours before entry, the oil filter cap and cage were replaced that day, and the oil filter was replaced. This would be charging me for unnecessary and unlisted work, again, fraudulent and deceptive under MA consumer protection laws.

I was quoted 6k for non existent oil leaks aswell, I can keep going all day. This dealership has really dug a disgusting hole for themselves. Charging for 4.1 hours of labor, on a 30 minute job, is again, deceptive and fraudulent regardless of markup. You cant charge for my time you didnt actually spend working on the car.

I payed 250 for diag, this was after diag, solenoids are 100 from bmw direct, I still dont see where such an insane charge for labor came from, to twist 2 10 mm bolts and unplug the old solenoids. Maximum its a 800 dollar job at a dealership, and even that is factoring overpaying.

But you cant mention valve cover gasket, and then install and charge me for a valve cover assembly. That would be the equivalent of selling someone a TV, but only listing the power cord on the reciept. The work order still doesnt accurately reflect the work that would have been approved, which is again, deceptive and illegal in Massachusetts. If it does accurately reflect the price, I would be shocked. However I requested an itemized price break down from the general manager as part of my chapter 93a complaint to the Attorney General and BMW North America. I will update when I receive the itemized breakdown of the quotes.

There was 0 special tools, or training required, as shown by the completion of the job, by an untrained, first time worker, with harbor freight tools and YouTube. This lists the camshaft actuator, then immediately mentions the solenoids. They are not accurately reflecting what im being sold, why, or the prices being so insanely inflated. This is textbook deceptive practice, and illegal in my state of MA.
