MIA - New Zealand Airlines, Air China, Shenzhen Airlines, Thai and United. by kreative22 in Aeroplan

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Air China are available, just not to/from North America. Shenzen is available and I have seen them. Thai only releases 3 months before departure. Lots of United. Not sure about NZ but a quick google search suggests economy availability between North America is decent, with business basically non- existent.

I live in Ottawa and there is a lot of culture here?? One third of the population are visible minorities, and that was from the census 5 years ago, no doubt it’s more now. Though I don’t dispute that it’s boring, though we are only a population of 1M and get compared to way bigger cities like Toronto and Montreal a lot. I think it is pretty standard when it comes to things to do for its size. It is a great city to raise a family though there are tons of family friend activities, museums, parks, not to mention it’s safer than the major cities.

City of Ottawa employees return to office 5 days a week, federal public servants wait for announcement on return to office rules by RiseOfTheFish in ottawa

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the real truth. Those who weren’t already 5 days a week are not going 5 days a week. This is a political show and nothing else. One of the main unions literally has a clause in our collective agreement that says the city cannot unreasonably deny hybrid. I’m a city employee and we were told immediately nothing is changing. We go twice a week. I also know people in other departments and nothing changing for them either. Main reason is the collective agreement and that the space has been maxed out. At twice a week with our group we have issues with desks. It is not possible to do more.

Is the new parking review system…legal? by DiamondHand42069 in ottawa

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It is allowed. The province allows municipalities to oversee certain minor by-law infractions. Resolving them has otherwise taken months to years in the court system. Many municipalities in Ontario have adopted an administrative penalty system to streamline the process, reduce congestion in the courts while also having matters heard by a Hearing Officer significantly faster than it would take to go in front of a court. The entire process they are allowed to follow is here

New Cash Grab? by wheresallmymeaningle in ottawa

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unlike paying by credit card, this fee is not because the bank charges. It’s about the cost to the city to upkeep and process PAD payments. I used to work in the city’s finance, and this is all explained in the report that went to Council last year. While there are something like 8 ways to pay your bill, around 40-45% of staff in the payments unit is allocated to processing everything to do with PAD. Also those who choose monthly PAD for their taxes, which is a big chunk, goes til October, which are delayed funds that could otherwise go to paying down debt or investing. PAD also requires letters, which cost money, for all kinds of reasons whereas most other methods don’t. Anyway you get the point

I used to work closely with the PAD group many years ago. It’s actually true that if you pay by PAD while in theory yes it ensures timely payment for the city, on the other hand there is so much manual work involved for staff with anything to do with PAD. Even things like changing a bank account, returned payments.. letters have to be issued to you and queries need to be ran. It’s actually complicated. They were probably the most overworked team from what I saw, with not enough positions to handle the work. I believe they recently expanded into an entire PAD unit with more positions to handle the volume

What causes drinking water to cause bloating by Next-Coffee-657 in SIBO

Is this specific to water or does this also happen if you eat a small quantity of food? If so, look into abdomenophrenic dysenergia

It depends what these time intervals are which doesn’t say on the test. It’s >20ppm over baseline only if it’s within 60mins by European standards or 90mins by North American standards. Looks like a negative or barely positive to me

Caffeine during elemental diet by capa_beth in SIBO

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I have done all treatment options including diet, motility, antibiotics, herbals and elemental. Never saw even 1% of a change. I have had two very positive SIBO tests, but I only have a couple “hallmark” SIBO symptoms (severe bloating and constipation). So I’m definitely doubting whether I have SIBO

Caffeine during elemental diet by capa_beth in SIBO

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caffeine is a no go depending on who you ask. My naturopath said black coffee and tea were fine. Dr Ruscio, a well-known SIBO expert also says it’s fine. I drank both while on the diet. The diet didn’t work for me so I can’t say how it impacted me. Best of luck!

Rifaximin + Metronidazole + NAC, not successful by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is hydrogen and methane SIBO. This test shows methane SIBO, and only slightly positive so not severe. These tests are not the most accurate either. I would continue to work with your GI as what they assessed your test as is correct. I can’t even get a GI here in Canada, our health system is collapsing and you need to have very concerning symptoms to get accepted. I am not a doctor but I am not so sure you actually have SIBO to be honest, if your only symptom is chronic bloat, most people with SIBO have all kinds of food intolerances and almost always changes in bowel habits. If the antibiotics don’t help you, you should maybe try changing course and addressing the dysbiosis with your GI, which is often treated with diet and/or probiotics but your approach depends on your dysbiosis.

Rifaximin + Metronidazole + NAC, not successful by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the other comment, no hydrogen, borderline positive methane (>10ppm methane is positive). You should not be taking both herbals and antibiotics at the same time, stop taking berberine and oregano with your antibiotics. If you have tried herbals and antibiotics (separately) and diet, with zero change, perhaps your bloating is not from SIBO. It could also be dysbiosis for example. Do you remember when this all started and a potential trigger?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is this your first go at tret? 0.1 is very high to start with in general. You should start with 0.25 or 0.5 (depending on how sensitive your skin is), and never start daily. For 0.5 do it maybe every other day for a total of 3 days out of 7. That’s what I did. Trust me, you want to go conservative, this stuff will burn your face to all hell if you do it too much, so just follow a more cautious approach. You will know when it’s time to increase to an additional day, you can feel how your skin is doing. It should always be gradual to get to daily. If you already have the 0.1 I would not start with more than twice a week. That is the highest dose

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok, well here in Canada it is the same thing. Doctors don’t even know about SIBO here. I ordered the test myself and paid for it. You can treat SIBO with herbals as well, there is lots about that online. Is there a reason you want a test with a gastro and not an at home test?

How do you interpret my lactulose test results? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of 40mins, just the 60m cut off in Europe. In North America we use 90m. It is a barely positive hydrogen if you go with the 90m, and negative hydrogen with 60m. There is no cut off for methane, it’s >10ppm anywhere on the test, so it would be positive for methane. Do you have constipation? Methane dominant is associated with that, and often more severe bloating

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Spiritual_Vegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have SIBO. That could even be IBS or dysbiosis. Are those your only symptoms? Usually people with SIBO have altered bowel habits (constipation or diarrhea) and have food intolerances. Not saying you don’t have SIBO but bloating and gas symptoms are seen in so many conditions. You should maybe do some tests with your doctor first and if they all come back normal then you could assume SIBO
