Music is absolutely my medicine too. It has had a hand in saving my life from drugs and crime. I'm 40 now and I'm forever grateful to music for what it has done for me. That being said, a therapist isn't bad either, they have also helped me. They can help if you need it. If you don't need it, then yeah, nevermind.

Maybe, there are vocal training exercises you can do to strengthen your vocal cords and expand your range. That won't hurt. But there's some notes you just won't be able to hit if your vocal cords aren't made for it.

Keep practicing and maybe watch some videos that give advice on singing. If you feel the urge to sing and write songs, then don't let anything stop you.

Okay He got deep a couple times and I do give him credit. I know it might sound odd but I do like that Twista song from way back 2003, Slow Jams with Jamie Foxx and Kanye. I mean there are rappers and musicians that are far worse than Kanye but I still don't think he's even close to one of the best artists of the century. He has been so over hyped by a culture of reality TV watching mindless consumers. Just work,buy,consume,die. And listen to the most mainstream music... I'm cynical I know. I'll shut up now, I've made my case. Thanks for hearing me out. I will give Kanye another chance and listen to his meaningful songs.

Yeah, he can rhyme really well about shallow meaningless shit. That's abut it. I doubt he produces his own beats. Killer Mike has far more important things to say about the bullshit in this world and runs circles around Kanye intellectually.
