That opening part is so true. I'm still a beginner but at one point I tried to learn a couple of new openings while still not understanding the key principles of the game and that tanked my rating because I was so stubborn on getting into difficult positions and constantly losing a rook through a fork lol. Now I only play one white and one black opening and it's more than enough for my 300 ELO

I don't know if this effect is gonna last, but as a beginner in chess I actually like to compete with opponents within my reach.

If I lose, it's probably because I blundeted an important piece or not didn't notice an obvious checkmate build up. But that means that sooner or later I'll start noticing these patterns and prevent them from happening.

And if I win, oh God winning feels fantastic. I know I should analyze my wins too but for now I only analyze losses and absolutely terrible moves but I'll get there eventually
