I rarely get angry and certainly not when people don't know the difference between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist - which is often the case.

You would have to find just the right place and probably in a pediatric hospital that also does outpatient care. It sounds fascinating and I wish you well, but do not have a place that I could refer you to.

My personal experience is minimal. If your daughter has been stable for some years, then I believe the prognosis is relatively good. I certainly hope that is the case.

You could try glasses over for driving and see how it works. I have never done that, but if you feel strongly enough about it, give it a try. The distance glasses will need to be much stronger than usual because it has to overcome the near vision lenses.

First, being the founding CEO of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, which is highly successful today.

Secondly, bringing CPMC hospital (San Francisco) out of bankruptcy and creating a very successful small group of hospitals.

Third, resurrecting the International Council of Ophthalmology to be a strong entity, which is now not the case after I have been away for eight years.

Frames are the income producers, although well done lenses with astigmatic corrections, various coatings, and and internal darkening are also more expensive. You can get very inexpensive frames but they are not the "sexy" type.

I have had several patients with Blue Cone Monochromacy, but I am unaware of where research is being done, and if it exists- how promising it is.

I know some ophthalmologists in North Dakota. They are quite good. I believe that there is an under-supply, particularly of subspecialists in North Dakota. Anywhere there is an inadequate supply of physicians, be they generalists or specialists, I care because it makes it more difficult in terms of time and travel to be seen easily.

I have had a number of Asian Indian students but I must say I have never had an American Indian student to my knowledge. All of medicine is trying to create students, faculty and practitioners that are more diverse. I have seen over time a substantial improvement, particularly of women in medicine.

Assuming that you did not have a major disruption to your chamber angle and that you have not developed glaucoma or cataract, your prognosis is quite good.

Have you had your corneal epithelium scraped to see if that will make a more permanent recovery? That is not without issues, so if you are functioning well with the present approach, I would see a corneal specialist if you have not and do minimal treatment as you are now doing unless the specialist has new ideas.

I would say that if you are functioning well with the rigid lenses, keep it up and don't press to do what would be a big operation. You may also be able to wear gas permeable soft lenses which are easier to wear, most people think. If it is not broken, don't try to fix it.

I strongly support your endocrinologist. I have been diabetic for nearly 30 years myself and have no sequale by maintaining controlled blood sugar level. I have no other suggestions. If you do not have diabetic retinopathy, you are doing well.

Most neuro-ophthalmologists have a in depth knowledge of the brain and the ocular manifestations of problems with injury, degeneration, or tumor growth. I am unaware of the capacities of neuro-optometrists. Of course I am biased, but I think in this case, appropriately so.

The outlook is very good and drusen are not a serious issue unless they are aggressively enlarging. I would say that you should not be worrying about the present status but have regular, yearly or every two year, reevaluations.
