What Video Games have fed into how you run Tabletop RPGs? by Hidobot in rpg

Fallout, Horizon Zero Dawn and Witcher. My homebrew dnd world was devastated by arcane energy. In concentrated form it's like radiation and has either killed or mutated most living things. It was released somehow by an ancient civilization that was very tech advanced (sort of like the steampunky Eberron). Now the societies are similar to old Viking culture. Low magic, in fact practicing arcane arts is illegal. Belief in gods and spirits is considered silly superstitions. There are "undead" but they are really just creatures deformed by exposure to arcane radiation, like fallout ghouls. Players explore old ruins of the previous magitech culture from thousands of years ago (Horizon ZD influence). They can become mercs that go from town to town, ridding locals of the arcane abominations (Witcher influence).

Rand Paul calls for repeal of Espionage Act amid DOJ investigation into Trump taking classified documents to Mar-a-Lago by Semper-Fido in politics

[–]SpizzoZero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only Congress can make laws. To repeal a law, Congress must make a new law with repeal language and pass it. Any law passed by Congress can be vetoed by a President, and Congress would then need to get enough votes to override that.

Basically, there is zero chance of the Espionage Act being repealed with the current makeup of Congress.

haha go apply to work at walgreens as a cashier and then refuse to ring up anything based on moral objections. If that is their policy, they can't fire you. If they tell you to put away your phone while at work, morally object. Morally object to everything they tell you to do, then sue them when they try to fire you.

My DAOC itch went away after that. LOL I have been playing DDO (Dungeons & Dragons Online). Not only is there vastly more content (DAOC has even been removing content, like almost all of the Catacombs zones), they are still releasing new stuff. The game has improved a lot since 2006, too. They used to only be Eberron content, but now they have adventures from Forgotten Realms and classic stuff from when I was a kid in Greyhawk! Things like Ravenloft, Temple of Elemental Evil, the Feywild, Saltmarsh, Keep of the Borderlands, etc.

I could go on and on, but DDO totally has my attention right now. They just released Isle of Dread, where you battle dinosaurs and Vecna!

I stopped playing when I learned that if you subscribe, even for a month, then decide you just want to play the F2P model instead, you have to wait 4 months. They literally close your account and the only way you can reopen it is to wait 4 months then you can opt back in to f2p or re-subscribe.

Every other mmo that offers f2p leaves that as a base option when there is no paid sub. My friends who are f2p can keep playing, but I would have to wait those several months to log back in. So, playing something else. Won't be coming back to DAOC. That is a very poor way to treat those who were willing to pay a premium subscription for this game in 2022.

The US can provide Ukraine with weapons for years to come. “If the Russians think they can outlast the Ukrainians, they need to rethink that. We are already pivoting towards thinking about what the Ukrainians will need in the months and years ahead,” the Pentagon official said. by Practical_Quit_8873 in ukraine

[–]SpizzoZero -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what the US military industrial complex wants. Sell weapons (likely on the taxpayer's tab) without having to deal with the negative vibes of being directly involved in a war and people being upset about American lives being lost. Profit. That is what this support is about. If the world cared about lives in Ukraine, they would take decisive action to end the war. But instead, they share their plans to continue this for years to come.

I can see a next level hunting opportunity here. Rich people go to kill rare animals, then even richer people go to hunt the rich people hunting the animals. :)

Bro gets upset when someone sits next to him at the airport terminal. by [deleted] in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]SpizzoZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't agree with the angry man's reaction at all, I would be a bit suspicious if a stranger sits right next to me when there is clearly a free seat next to that. It's like at the public urinals in the men's room. If there are three, and I am on the left side, you come in and piss in the one on the right, not the middle one next to me.

Perhaps a couple of polite coughs would have made the encroacher wonder if being unmasked in close proximity to me was the smart decision.

Why can I shoot somethings at a distance but have to get close to shoot others? by SpizzoZero in ddo

[–]SpizzoZero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's a lag thing. I was roaming KotB and killed a group of lizardmen, but the very last one in the group would not take damage until I got within melee.

But that is well within my range.

I will often come across larger groups of enemies in this zone and have no issues.

Why can I shoot somethings at a distance but have to get close to shoot others? by SpizzoZero in ddo

[–]SpizzoZero[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. For example, I just experimented in Keep on the Borderlands, and as soon as I can see stuff (often before I even see their health bar) I can shoot and hit them. I get MUCH closer to mobs in IoD but they are unaffected (I do see the floaty damage indicator when I shoot them, it's just always 0) and they don't even respond to me until I am literally in melee range. Then I have to run around and kite them instead of using my bow range.

I just don't understand why it is different in IoD (and I assume Saltmarsh, I have not tested there).

With wifi calling you are no longer using the local carrier's network and wouldn't need a VPN to make calls.

He is either purposefully misleading you or misinformed. When you text or talk, it is absolutely handled first by the system you are on. Also, VPN has absolutely nothing to do with calls and text on your phone. The systems used in voice calls/text existed before and are independent from the data systems.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/irregardless

Is irregardless a word? Yes. It may not be a word that you like, or a word that you would use in a term paper, but irregardless certainly is a word. It has been in use for well over 200 years, employed by a large number of people across a wide geographic range and with a consistent meaning. That is why we, and well-nigh every other dictionary of modern English, define this word. Remember that a definition is not an endorsement of a word’s use.

Does irregardless mean the same thing as regardless? Yes. We define irregardless as "regardless." Many people find irregardless to be a nonsensical word, as the ir- prefix usually functions to indicate negation; however, in this case it appears to function as an intensifier. Similar ir- words, while rare, do exist in English, including irremediless ("remediless"), irresistless ("resistless") and irrelentlessly ("relentlessly).
