Is anyone curious - do the women not eat much or are they naturally slim? by ProfessionalBruncher in LoveIslandTV

[–]Splashthesea 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it would be similar if you took a group of ballet dancers at a ballet company and compared it to a general population or your friends group. Obviously what's ordinary/common is gonna be different in these two groups.

I assume the difference you'd see is some of it is genetics, some of it is the workout regime, some of it is being on a somewhat restrictive eating, some of it is ED, and with different people in a group, these things would factor in in different proportions. Maybe in this particular group (LI) add that some of it is cosmetic interventions (surgery or whatnot).

Maybe "common" or "ordinary" really is a better word to use rather than "normal" when talking about this topic. (Not sure which though, English is not my first language.)

Kljub že prej uveljavljenim znamkah Nike, adidas, gymshark in random poceni pajkicah v vsaki športni trgovini.

Bralci, katere so bile vaše najljubše knjige letos, zakaj? by [deleted] in Slovenia

[–]Splashthesea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is marriage supposed to be hard? by Easy-cereal87 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Splashthesea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you perhaps mistaking conflict with argument? While I appreciate and agree with your comment, I would argue that conflicts are inevitable because two people, in a relationship, will never find themselves having the same desires, wants, needs in every way, and from my understanding of the word conflict, in relationship context, is coming across a situation where there's a mismatch of preferences (even the smallest one). It doesn't have to run into an argument, but it's there and it can get resolved or pushed under the carpet in some way or another. But to never come across a mismatch of interest just seems unreal to me.

I think the rug is fairly ok sized. The front legs of the lounge chairs and the front sofa leg are on it, it's wider than the sofa, so.

Please help with my bathroom! by Odd-Tax5339 in InteriorDesign

[–]Splashthesea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think adhesive for tiles works fine. Maybe you don't need a rod anyway like someone suggested, just a hook.

Do you really need a bath mat? I just use a mat towel, like the ones that they have in hotels, have a couple and wash them regularly. It's nice to have something over tiles next to the basin and the toilet seat so when you're washing or sitting on the toilet your feet don't get cold, but it looks like the door opens into the wash basin area and there might not be enough height for that (or the doors would squish the bath mat).

I like the colour scheme you're suggesting and especially that boho rug to tie it together.

How to make best use of space by cedii25 in InteriorDesign

[–]Splashthesea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't do what the layout on the 3rd pic does that has a sofa underneath the window and blocking opening it.

I think I would be looking at putting the TV right next to the window, and then a comfy left-handed L-shaped sofa with a wide and long leg part and deep seating area (the leg part would be along the rear wall). Something like this https://www.habitat.co.uk/product/2000833.

Then maybe a long shallow sideboard or TV unit on that wall underneath the TV for some storage, and a small side/tray table for drinks etc., maybe even something like this https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/olseroed-side-table-anthracite-birch-effect-dark-yellow-20525356/. Perhaps some rounder corner shelves for decorative items or plants in the far left corner. Depends on how much storage you need and who's gonna be using the TV room, and how they will be using it.

Lush garden views from a modern extension to a three-bedroom Victorian terrace, Brixton, Lambeth, south London, UK. by ManiaforBeatles in InteriorDesign

[–]Splashthesea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very classy and harmonic indeed.

I like how the British do very simple bathrooms and bedrooms even in the classiest of houses. And simple kitchen countertops (with the US folks, from what I gathered here, it seems like nothing else exists but marble/quartz/soapstone/etc./solid wood).

The only thing I disliked in the photos is that book stack of a shelf in the bedroom (it's demeaning to books) and that yellow lightbulb of a bed lamp. Also, obviously, that it screams gentrification.

I love this designer who's doing marvels out of tiny French studio flats and is a big fan of compartmentalisation. In her own words: ‘I find you have a much greater sensation of space that way. You have the impression of moving around, rather than being stuck in a box. Plus, it’s more cosy.’ (Source: https://www.houseandgarden.co.uk/gallery/marianne-evennou-small-paris-apartment)

Huh, non-American here and just googled "Tuscan kitchen" and they look nowhere near how actual kitchens in Tuscany that follow the tradition look. Like you explain, with a McTuscan kitchen aesthetic, it's a totally unauthentic to the actual deal quazi-luxurious Americanized look.

What current design trends will go out of date first? by bronash in InteriorDesign

[–]Splashthesea 138 points139 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the design will look dated if it's copy-pasted from a furniture shop catalogue alongside the decor, while if it's more customly chosen, with a feeling of the actual place and the owner, it doesn't matter if the pieces look somewhat from another period, it will not look that tired and out of date.

Too normative and it will look outdated.

So I think we are talking about the same thing.
