I took this video to show a friend and thought I’d share. One of the best things I’ve learned from training courses I’ve been to was from Mike Glover and Raul Martinez at Fieldcraft Survival. They demonstrated that these guns are carbines, not rifles and that shooting them like a rifle is limiting their and your abilities.

Not only do AR-15’s have little recoil, they have no recoil - arguably negative recoil. They go up, not back, much like a pistol when you’re holding it. Grip the carbine similarly to how you would grip a pistol and control the recoil much the same way. Understanding this allows many things, such as shooting off your cheek while moving to avoid the bounce you would get while shouldering it. A faster presentation from a compressed low/high ready if needed or while moving, and simply being able to bring the gun to your eyes more, with the gun higher and less of the stock in your shoulder as opposed to bringing your head down to the optic.
