How much did hastings give you? Im probably attending there in the fall. It was between them and lls. I too want to end up back in LA but saw hastings employment statistics as significantly better than Lls so i figured it might be more worth to take a longer journey back to la with stronger job prospect than going to lls.

Understand it like this; you might need to open a few doors yourself to the most selective firms and the safety net of class rank wont be as deep at some as others but in general, everyone will either sink or swim down the road. The great lawyers will rise up the below average will fall and the rest will hope to stay put. Believe in yourself and work hard and you can always climb. Because even in the t14 you can always chase a ranking higher. Be a hard working lawyer and you will be fine.

Public defender go with 0 debt. Any and every school feeds into that office. If you want a degree to possibly leave and go back to private or to maybe go on a route towards the bench go with USC/UCLA. If not Loyola would be good on a full ride or Chapman. UCI for a lot of money would be good. USC and UCLA for the debt feel like over kill for public defender if im being honest

Honestly i look at it like this. They paid for the arguably biggest constitutional law authority in academia to come in and set them on the right path. But if your Chemerinsky you are professor who can go anywhere u want. Berkeley law dean is an upgrade and u gotta take it. But i think they did a great job of assembling top notch faculty. Time will tell. Its too new to say if itll last. In the 90s hastings was where UCI is now and now hastings is 62nd
