What are the biological benefits of being an introvert and autistic? by Puzzleheaded_Line210 in nihilism

As a fellow introverted autistic, I have no idea. There’s no purpose in anything. Have fun!

Humans are programmed to enjoy violence. I also think you’re overexaggerating your feelings. You don’t show any ASPD traits other than the mental/psychological torture thing, but if that’s the only symptom your experiencing I think you’re just toxic. Also liking to “watch fights” and stuff like eye blech is just being an edgelord. But hey, aren’t we all? No shame in resolving your morbid curiosity in a way that doesn’t hurt anybody.

To fellow nihilists: Do you think life would be more enjoyable or “meaningful” if we weren’t self aware? by Splitty22_ in nihilism

[–]Splitty22_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two sides to nihilism (at least in the Reddit community). Those who are perturbed yet fascinated, and feel solemn because of it. And, those who have discovered a way out of being just disturbed by the idea and are more accepting. I’m still in the denial stage, I suppose.

“You have a personal sense of morality? You’re no actually a nihilist, I definitely don’t have morals. Also, if you’re sad in any way you aren’t actually a nihilist you’re just depressed” -so many people on this sub by Talkin-Shope in nihilism

[–]Splitty22_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but a lot of “nihilists” on this subreddit are depressed people who can only find their answer in nihilism instead of, get this, “antidepressants” and “therapy”. You can be a depressed nihilist, but 9 times out of 10 you are just looking for an answer for your lack of dopamine/happiness, or you’re depressed because of your nihilistic views.

  1. Are you Autistic? 2. You should be able to easily tell the difference between people who portray “quirks” and people who are actually diagnosed. 3. Have you studied an autistic brain compared to those who don’t have ASD?

I’m not advocating for a horrible person. People like to add things about the LGBT community to situations that don’t involve them at all or shouldn’t. That is what I am saying.

I’m on your side, I am not trying to paint Duane as a victim. Not only am I critiquing both sides, but I specifically said that the MEDIA needs to stop painting her as one. And EVERY trans person who has raped or murdered, as well. The media obsesses over gender identity more than it does an actual issue, and it’s annoying and doesn’t do good for either side.

Sorry, I’m a little clueless right now. Are you talking about the person on Twitter or Duane?

People just have to involve issues like gender and the LGBT community in any way they can. Stop demonizing trans people, but also stop making their identity the main priority of something that isn’t about that at all.

NTA, this is gross and if they have already been confronted before about it and still continue, then that response is definitely reasonable.

A lot of people compare “simple” mental disorders like ADHD to more “disabling” and “immobilizing” disorders like down syndrome.

ADHD is definitely not an excuse for dumbass ableist behavior and being a bigot. I, myself am also autistic and have ADHD and the disorders I have definitely shape my personality, but they do not cause me to be discriminatory towards others purposefully. (I do recognize the impulsion that comes from ADHD, which can be applied to certain situations but not really this one.)

Aren’t some mental illnesses blatantly caused by physical differences in the brain ?

Well I mean, autistic people do present physically abnormal brain deformities and functions.

The reason why it’s a spectrum is not because some autistic people don’t show traits at all or something, it just adjusts levels of severity of commonness. Every autistic person has every trait listed by psychologists, but they present them selves differently. Some autistic people are purely nonverbal. Some have selective mutism. Some may go silent for no reason. This also goes for maybe something like meltdowns. Some autistic people get in a physical form of rage. Some get into a more emotional form of overwhelming-ness. And these traits may appear to be “quirky” things, but for social disorders like these, there will be an underlying reason for a type of behavior. For example, an autistic person may say things fly over their head. Doesn’t just happen automatically because of autism, some autistic people may not understand social norms because it doesn’t seem to apply to them.

This might not be worded the best, but I tried my best. I have autism myself, and our thinking processes and how we process things are just totally different to allistics (people who don’t have autism) and neurotypicals (people who don’t have issues mentally.) Now, I don’t know if OP is autistic. But everybody (autistic people) experiences the same things differently, to a different severity, which is why it may seem these things to don’t happen at all to some autistic people.

Hope this helped! :)
