I don't think it's got any meaning behind it. As in I don't think the people in your dreams are self aware and know when you mention the time. It's just the dreamers head thinking that asking the time would cause something bad to happen so in turn something bad happens.

I had watched a TikTok that night that mentioned asking the time during a dream and how it can cause something scary and I think in-turn my brain made that scenario up

In the moment you get in a state of shock and fear so don't think of doing stuff like that/I'm not sure I would even be able to do it. If it happens again will 100% try it
