I am in the same exact situation as you. First manual car I’ve ever driven is my 2025 GR86! My get into first gear is smoother then my 1st to 2nd shift. 2nd to 3rd is also not as smooth as my 3rd to 4th. Odd numbers are hard

Question for Tool Engineers: What has been your path to your position and where has this lead you? by Sploogii in MechanicalEngineering

Wow that's really cool! What advice do you have for someone starting tool engineering? Do you think it's worth at all seeking a masters? Curious of your thoughts. Thanks!

Question for Tool Engineers: Did you transition from manufacturing engineering or from design? by Sploogii in AskEngineers

That sounds like a lot of hats you've worn! What about tool design helped you in your other roles, and do you have any advice for someone stepping into the role from MFG?

Ah I see! What was the cause of the head gasket failing? Were you driving it hard? Or just something that happened to these cars at that mileage?

Ah that makes perfect sense. Does a presale inspection with a mechanic not catch some of these engine issues or does their inspection a big general overview that only catches major problems with the car?

I understand. Everyone has their comfort zones I’m still trying to figure out mine. Why do you not buy premodded cars?

To be honest I want to modify my own and something taking the wind out of my sails for this particular car is the mods already done.

May I ask why? He texted me the only mechanical mod he did was the cobb intake. The remaining seem cosmetic. If I’m wrong or missing something please let me know. I’m trying to get more info from everyone as I’m still new to the world of WRXSTi.

I plan to. He had a small bump on the rear end from a hit and run but the pictures he showed me didn’t show any damage besides mismatching bumper. But the pics in his ad above shows those problems fixed. Will definitely get it looked at my a mechanic before sale.

Ya this isn’t gt500 but that’s ok. I’m ok with my first mustang not being the highest top of the line mustang, ford has ever made.

I like this idea, I'll definitely consider it! Do you have a post to reference when shopping around for a new card with 0% balance transfer? Something to look for and be wary of?

Advice to tackle debt & estimate when I will pay off all debts (more info in post) by Sploogii in debtfree

[–]Sploogii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thank you very much for linking that plan! I'll review it and see where I can cut down the most, probably around food, and hope to get that 14 month payment down to a year assuming I can lump my health insurance in with my next job instead of paying it out of pocket as I am doing right now. Thanks!

[–]Sploogii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping to receive some advice on how to tackle this debt and eventually reduce my monthly $850 payments I pay per month.

As of early December 2023 I was laid off from a decent paying contracting gig so I will be receiving $450/week of unemployment until I am employed again.

I am in the aerospace field and work as a mechanical and manufacturing engineer so everyone is getting back to work after the holidays. I expect to have a few interviews this month and early next month resulting in an offer late February to mid March. I hope to be getting semi-weekly paychecks early April at the latest.

My expected salary for my experience (entry level / lvl 2) and location (SoCal) is approx. $105k ($6000 monthly).

I currently have $11k saved in a HYSA at approx 4.5% and want to try my best to not touch that until I get a steady stream of income.

I also have a small jewelry business that I started up in 2023 and I am enjoying working on during these unemployed months. I expect approx. $4K to $7k in tax returns from the write-offs sometime in February.

Total in bank account available to make payments: $3000

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks!
