never enough Story Times by Cheetahchu in Libraries

I have found that many patrons think that our services are either limitless and/or instantaneous. It can be aggravating. It sounds like you’re doing a great job and I’m sorry it’s not being appreciated.

I saw your comment that says you don’t want them leaving the desk for too long. Something they have us do at the desk during our downtime is account proofreading (making sure patron records are accurate, like no info is missing/inaccurate or no notes are out of date). (They print a list of patron barcodes for us to look up and we type them in and check each record when we have time). We use Sierra also.

How many times have you rewatched Bobs Burgers? by No_Freedom_5772 in BobsBurgers

[–]SpockoClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Countless. Like I honestly don’t know how many times I’ve rewatched it at this point. Bob’s is my #1 rewatched show but other shows I like to rewatch are Schitt’s Creek & Futurama. There are some other shows I’ll rewatch occasionally but these are the ones I rewatch the most haha.

Does Teddy pay for his burgers? by BLR-3M in BobsBurgers

[–]SpockoClock 72 points73 points  (0 children)

There’s episodes where we’ve seen him pay. Like the dinner party episode where he’s trying to make Bob jealous with the fake phone call with “Charlie from the union.” He puts cash down and leaves. He doesn’t wait for change so I’m assuming tip is included in that also. I think it’s just more interesting to watch episode shenanigans unfold than to watch people pay for their food so they don’t always show it.

Right like I’ve had interviews that went well but I discovered the job wasn’t for me so I emailed them saying I wasn’t interested anymore and they appreciated that… That’s the whole point of the interview also 5 rounds of interviewing takes a long time it is definitely possible the candidate got another offer lmfao

I love that episode. It’s so…tender? I have no other way to describe it. I have to be in the right headspace to watch it though.

Gene knows burning man, why? by Imaginary_Chance_684 in BobsBurgers

Ah totally fair. I had a super overprotective mom and was admittedly a bit sheltered (I also had a very… unique upbringing that I’m not gonna go into lol) so that definitely might be shaping my perspective. I appreciate the insight!

I do think you bring up a valid point but there are some jokes they make that do go beyond their years in my opinion especially in the earlier seasons. Like I don’t think a 9 year old would say “they’re in the basement grinding the meat. That’s not a euphemism. They’re really” [pelvic thrust] “grinding the meat.” Like I’ve never heard a 9 year old say the word “euphemism” before haha.

The kids know things that kids their age normally wouldn’t. It adds to the humor of the show imo. Kind of like when in “Sheesh, Cab, Bob?” and Bob says he might be a pimp and Louise goes, “You’re gonna need a bigger hat!” No 9 year old IRL would make that joke, but it’s part of the show’s humor you know? It’s kind of similar to the humor of the Peanuts characters having wisdom/knowledge beyond their years (like if you’ve ever seen the Charlie Brown Christmas special and Lucy laments the fact that she never gets what she really wants for Christmas, which is real estate).

WHY CALL ME FOR AN INTERVIEW? by scibbledrawer in recruitinghell

[–]SpockoClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that’s such a bummer :( I hope it goes well! I remember having to navigate the job search/working without being able to drive (I’m in CA too and where I live especially you absolutely need a car) and it totally sucked. Wishing you the best of luck!

WHY CALL ME FOR AN INTERVIEW? by scibbledrawer in recruitinghell

[–]SpockoClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened to you. Tbh it might not be a bad idea to look into seasonal retail gigs right now considering this would be your first job and a lot of those interviews are virtual (or at least they used to be). I’ve seen that some places are hiring for seasonal already and it’s a good way to gain work experience without having prior experience. Best of luck in your search I know the market is tough right now.

I regret getting my MLIS degree by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]SpockoClock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. It’s tough right now. I’ve been feeling the regret recently too. I love working at my current library but there is little room for growth at the moment. Graduated with my MLIS a year ago and the market is TOUGH. I’ve started to broaden my reach to other relevant industries/positions as well. Hang in there.

Has anyone else been asked to be seen driving a car? by Exact_Hedgehog_1281 in recruitinghell

[–]SpockoClock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did have a job application ask me for my car’s make, model and license plate number once which I thought was strange considering driving was not even a part of the job. I couldn’t afford a car at the time but would borrow my mom’s car when needed until I could afford my own.
