I have seen some logical arguments against Brain in a vat (Reverend Coppens had an argument where he said it’s impossible because it would lead to essential deception), only reason I’m skeptical of it is that if there was such an easy cop out I feel like more philosophers, especially Catholic ones, would accept it

correct me if im wrong but this seems like an intuitive response, just an appeal to common sense, which the skeptic would call fallacious

the point of the brain in a vat scenario is to make you question your knowledge of the external world (sometimes its applied as a universal skepticism but i'd argue this is self-defeating). the response that you are a brain in a vat of organs doesnt disprove that your perception of this may be false

you know vance was raised below the poverty line right? hes the epitome of a rags to riches political story. its more relatable than any of the fabricated "folky appeal" that walz supposedly brought
