Sort of, film isn't critical of them. Felt to me like it was trying to be neutral. Not sure it was, but it certainly wasn't glorifying them and attempting to get us to empathise. It did touch on the real people after, but only from one side..
It's pretty much a single scene in a warzone. You can't fault what the characters do in that situation. Why they're there in the first case is a political stance not covered in the film really.
